73 Miles Later and What I Learned
After about 3 months and 45 pounds less, my wife and I hit a plateau with our weight loss! We both needed to lose another 25 pounds to make our goal, and the scales were stuck on around the same number 201 for me and not trending down! My wife told me not to mention her weight so – what mama wants mama gets! So we took a time out and looked at what we could do better.
Better Eating -vs- More Exercise
We initially did a good job at cutting sugar and bad carbohydrates out of our diet, with a pretty good workout routine. But anyone can always do a little better at both! That’s when we remembered reading in the 3-week Diet Plan – you can not work your way out of a bad diet plan. So I decided to put that to the test – this is what I did to keep eating the foods I wanted without calorie counting! So 73 miles later, some sore feet & legs, not to mention a little less rubber on my shoes – this is what I learned.
The Real Results We Did NOT Expect
Ok so I actually had two goals #1) Eat anything without calorie counting & #2) Reach top 1% with my walking app above. I felt sure that putting in a little more sweat and steps were the answer, but 73 miles later not so! My final weight after the 7 days was 198.7, a whopping 2.3 pounds difference. Was it worth the 4 hrs a day walking and sore feet – no not really! The 2.3 pounds = 8049 calories, divided by 7 days is only 1149 calories a day to avoid. So knowing your BMR ( can use calculator right sidebar) and cutting 1149 a day would have achieved the same results. And of course getting maybe just 1 hour a day of action would help lose even more towards my 25-pound weight loss goal!
Conclusion
This was a lesson learned and will mix up my 10 miles a day with a bike ride and see the results. But this time with my BMR calorie counting daily-more to come! Hope this helps anyone wanting to lose the weight and get healthy, take care till next time. Peace Out!
In the summer I ride to work 15Km each way. It is the best way I know how to lose some extra fat and I usually don't change my diet much. I would way rather exercise then eat healthy.
eating healthy is still important
Bike rides are great no matter where you go! That was kind of my point - it takes more than just exercise to really lose the weight you want. But stay the same weight - exercise might be enough! Thanks for the chat!
