Changing our fat challenge to fitness victory

in #weightloss7 years ago

Today I'm going to share with all of you my son's journey with weight challenges. The main reason behind the fitness and health business we have today.
It all started when he was only 5 years old. He complicated after being given medication with penicillin. The. His lungs collapsed and was in ICU for three months on the ventilator and cortisone for inflammation.
To cut the story short:
He came out with more problems than he had going to hospital. It was the beginning of a nightmare. He gained weight so fast and his little body retained so much water. It never stopped but got worse as he grew up. We tried it all. Went from doctor to doctor, test after test and the school was on our case and on his case as well as if he only wakes up to eat. He was not even eating more that he was supposed to. He was ridiculed by other kids. " No don't play on my bike, you'll break it" , even adults would sometimes join in and tell him not to use the swings etc. it was horrible and very painful for me as adult, it was worse for him as a child. When we go out, people would stare at him and ridicule him. It broke me to pieces. When he got to grade 8, we couldn't take it anymore. We took him off mainstream school and started homeschooling. He had enough of the bullying by both adults and kids. It was breaking him everyday. We needed to protect him while going all out to assist him naturally. We started gym with a personal trainer, but had to protect his joints and he was young for weight training.
We heard about the ozone, it helped to clean his system and boost his immune system. We also read and studies lots of materials about the effects of cortisone and how to beat it and what it can do to the human body. We started training using own body weight and teaching him how to also train by himself and why he needed to do it. How to protect his joints and taught him how the body is developing. What to eat to assist the body and what his blood type means and how to deal with it in term of training and eating as well. How to approach life in general. He had to embrace himself and learn to tell himself that he loves his body and he loves himself. This sound funny but it's critical in getting your body to work with you in achieving the desired results. Some days were darker than others, but he never lost hope and he would even get me going when I was breaking down.
Our trainers have also come on board and walked this journey with us. JacoJitske van der Merwe played a huge role and even played the part of a big brother to my son. Elbey Kekana, Lucy Mokoena and Tshegofatso Syrus Marule became his Ninjas and taught him a lot. VisionBody EMS, perfected the whole thing and assisted my son to get the desired results he had been working so hard towards achieving.

His dream was to be able to swim without wearing a top and having a weight measurement with only two figures.

It sounded impossible but it was doable.

He moved from weighting 164kg to a mere 82kg having last weighed himself about two months ago. I believe he is much less than that now but he will check when he feels like it. He is training and eating well. He is back to his old school and they just could not believe their eyes when he joined them back in grade 11. He is my pride . He did what most adults struggle to do. He persevered and stuck to his goals and worked through to achieving even more than he expected. I've waited for so long to be able to openly share with the world what he has achieved.IMG_3538.JPG
