Bethany Greenway has never been a fan of tanning beds for excessive sun bathing. However, everything changed during her pregnancy in 2014. A spots appeared on her forehead that looked like a liver spots. It did not seem strange on Bethany's freckled face, and she smeared it as a pregnancy hormone. However, the mole begins to grow in the midst of the spots, and feels pain over his left eye.

Given that her mother suffered from melanoma at her age, Bethany then visited the doctor. A biopsy shows that it is a desmoplastic melanoma, a rare-colored lesion that is rarely misdiagnosed because it does not appear darker than the surrounding skin.

In his battle with cancer, Bethany underwent two operations last year to remove the skin and muscles in her face, and the lymph nodes behind her ears. His left eyebrow was gone. The wound is covered with skin grafted from her thighs. The doctor temporarily sews a compression sponge on his face to speed healing.

Bethany keeps the process documented by posting photos publicly on her Facebook page. "For me, it's worth going through this year of suffering for another 50 or 60 years watching my children grow up and be present for my children and husband," he said in an online interview.

It will be a decade before he is expressed in remission. Now, she's wearing plenty of sunscreen and hats. "Please stop sunbathing and go to the skin tanning salon," he said. "Chocolate skin is not a healthy light - it damages the skin."
