So, is anyone out there?
I recovered an old drive that was fried years ago in order to access old music files and photos; and found the keys to my Steemit profile! Yikes. I had no idea that things have changed so much!!! I signed up for Hive @brixboston100 not even knowing it was a fork of Steemit until after I had a look around and noticed things looked strangely familiar.
Anyone still out there?
@spaminator @themarkymark @guiltyparties @hivewatchers
Why am I on a blacklist? I wasn't years ago.
I have de-authed upvote bank.
The discord is all blacked-out (can't post/closed?)
If you remember, this bot used to be okay years ago.
Things have changed it seems. But I can imagine it off putting,
for people to come to a site and be slammed with punishment.
Not really a good look for broad adoption practices.
Doesn't seem to be an easy way to contact anyone anymore either.
You're ok now, I removed it and your account seems clear. Like I said on Discord, I recommend you keep an eye on your transactions to make sure the account isn't compromised. Right now it's unlikely but best to be watchful.
Lol now is a better time then ever to find your keys, thing is there's even more forks too, like BLURT! As well as tokens built on top of HIVE so it can get pretty crazy, have fun diving down the rabbithole once again
I already feel like I'm diving down a rabbit hole lol! I just jumped on the hive engine dev discord server. I'm so PROUD of everyone and all of this! Why isn't this broadly adopted? I really need help figuring out things. How many forks are there? What are they? What tokens are there? I have so many questions :(
So when HIVE was created some witnesses weren't really on board and folked steem again and created BLURT - https://blurtter.com/ it hasn't done much though tokens worth like 1 cent but I guess some people like it since there are no downvotes
Then HIVE has its side-chain called HIVE engine where you can create tokens on top of it
You can use these 2 front ends to manage your tokens
depending on your niche you'd collect a certain token, for example
LEO - Finance
CINE - Movies and TV reviews
WEED - Cannabis content
etc, you'll have to dive in and find the communities you like and start picking up their tokens
It seems as thought I already hold some tokens for other forks too
As for adoption, I think this place is still to complicated for most people to get into and we're still a well kept secret, the HIVE fund has voted on a marketing campaign to help and there's tonnes of new features coming so I think eventually people will find it
Back then, much of this is what many of us dreamed of. It's really amazing. I found out I have a bunch of Alpha Monsters. So who stayed and who went? I see @acidyo in the dev server. And I saw of agregoed and crimson. Wild ride huh! Do some still use both? I see coindoubler and tipu still giving out comissions and basic income working. This is pretty crazy(in a good way.) I found the javascript libraries. Sheesh. I could literally build my website here now! Thats bananas. I need friends here again. Seems much of the rooms are not in english.
Sweet lol looks like the gift that keeps on giving, I've also had some pretty cool airdrops since I've been here. Nah very few people use both, mostly just milkers use the other chains and try to milk them all but there's kind of a sense of pick a chain if you want to support a community with your content and contributions.
Most of the peeps moved to HIVE so many of the Dapps are here, very few stayed with steem and not much going on with BLURT> most people just sold off their stake on one chain and focused on the one they like best
Id like to figure out how to get my steem/SBD/SP over here but leave enough to still cross post there. Never hurts to have extra coin. But community wise, I totally agree with you. Under the hood this has thus far looked scarily awesome. I still can't believe this is more a hidden gem.
You can send your steem to hive via hive engine or tribal DEX
The downvote thingy marked me as spam I think. I think I lost some cred LOL
Lol I think you'll need to chat to HIVE watchers or Flag rewards discord to see whats up, could have just been a mistake
Sorry to both you but where is the way to change keys. Everything is different now.
I don't even know how to do that. How would I do that? LOL
It looks like it's because you have authorized @upvotebank with your account's posting auth. This is owned by a spammer who upvotes his own comments with hundreds of small votes in order to scrape up a few pennies. Remove that account from your account's posting authority and also take the time to review other accounts from apps you may no longer use.
If you like to use PeakD I bet they probably make it easiest (I don't do account auths so I'm not sure). From your account profile page on PeakD, click on the Account Actions menu button in the upper right, click on Keys & Permissions, and then go to the Authorities tab.
After that, @hivewatchers or @spaminator should be able to get you off that list.
It wasn't because of that, we don't pull based on posting authority. It's resolved now.
@pfunk Perhaps. When this was formerly steem, upvote bank and similar "cooperation bots" were totally OKAY to use. In fact, some communities had their own cooperation bot that autovoted as a group if you were part of the group. It was also OKAY to upvote your own comments. Is that different now?
Yeah if there are auto-police here now, it might not be the place I want to bring my following after-all.
That stuff is ok. This spammer has only been using the accounts he has access to, through the upvotebank account, to upvote his own automated comments.
How does @spaminator / @hivewatchers remove off a list? The discord is all blacked out. I can't post in there except in general. So how do you contact people around here?
@pfunk so his bot is authorizing to me to upvote himself only? How otherwise would he generate coin to distribute to his delegators? I looked at his page, and it seems there is a solid split between people who are okay with it and people who are not. What are they doing that was non-consensual? Why did people feel left out if they could all freely opt in? Was it disturbing other people's organic curation process?
So which bots were okay to use? Is upvote bot still working? The page said it was shut down.
Because his account is in your account's posting authorities, it means he can do any posting-auth operation on Hive using your account. This means voting, posting, editing. So he's using his auth on your account to vote on his comments using your account. This is why I suggest only keeping the accounts for the services that you use authorized, and removing the rest.
Still here!
If you are using the same keys as in steemit..change them..prone for hacks and stuff. Welcome back!
Yes, absolutely! Thank you!. This place is amazing. It's like finding a deed to a house and someone remodeled (for the better) while I've been gone LOL
welcome back!
@meno can we chat on the phone? Can you add me to some of the discords? New username BRIXBOSTON100#4053 DM me? Seems things have changed a lot.
Thank you for the welcome!
Welcome back! Happy to hear you found your keys.
Thank you @acidyo I missed yall! I was sooooooooo depressed. I literally went into a horrible depression for a year. (I also lost all my music and photos when the hard drive fried.) Luckly I recovered those too! :)
I'm really excited about all the development on this new fork. This is so shiny and new! It's really great.
Apparently however, I'm getting automatically downvoted on every comment from @spaminator. Idk why. I was previously a valued member in this community praised for highly curated content, development and onboarding. Now I have a whale punching me in the face LOL!
How have you been? What is everyone up to these days? How do I get back involved under the hood?
Welcome back @omitaylor
We've missed you!
And yes, we are still here... some of us anyway. A lot of friends still haven't returned after the inevitable break.
You can look at using the interface at peakd.com for ease of navigation. It is quite easy to use, and almost everything is much cooler than the regular hive interface which basically looks like steem. Also check out @peakd blog for helpful posts on how to's that you may possibly need in getting the hang of things again.
Sorry about the downvotes, I have no clues on how that could be stopped.
Good to hear you are with us again. Cheers!
