Hello Steemians,
Very new to this platform I don't understand what I am doing but hoping to make friends along the way who will help me out and
that we can have a happy friendship in the long term future.
A quick question I have tried to google it but failed.
What is the term whale in steem not as in the mammal variety??
It is a term referring to how much influence a person has. Should a "whale" upvote your post, than the rewards will substantially change.
Ok I think I understand that, so that could be someone with a large following is that right??
Not exactly. Your status as a minnow, dolphin, or whale is based on the number of Vests you have been awarded. You could theoretically have a huge following but receive few awards because your post quality is terrible.
OMG so the posts I did today may not have much value, where do I research to become better at this???
Firstly, you can only really monetize up to four posts a day. Secondly, you should do google searches for "Steemit Markdown." This is the code we use on Steemit to make our posts more beautiful. There are numerous tutorials that will show you how to turn text into
headers,
or even italicize it.
Good luck and Steem on!
Right Steemit Markdown got it will research soon.
Not really in steem but the crypto community. People who invested in the early crypto days when bitcoin was $1 are considered whales. These people have accumulated a vast amount of bitcoin, and use the alt coins to spread out their wealth since they cannot cash out without paying a huge amount of taxes.
Whales produce a huge amount of trade volume in alt coins and can make them pump and dump.
Edit: Now I get that there is a different definition for a "Steem whale"
Thank you for your answer I guess its all part of the learning process.
