Question: Why are bid bots hated? Best alternative for no content discovery feature
Steemit doesn’t have a content discovery mechanism than can promote good posts. At least with bid bots, you can take your post reward destiny into your own hands and earn what you feel you deserve.
I do understand that people abuse this by creating low quality posts and receiving high earnings. Does that make bid bots the problem? The trending page itself is an issues as it’s based on earnings rather than something like views or reblogs.
Using bidbots helped me promote this app (What Q&A) and there were times my app post rewards didn’t even reach $1. It’s very disappointing that someone can add value to the steem ecosystem yet receive almost nothing in return. Therefore, bidbots came to the rescue and provided good earnings with also more people knowing about the app.

I get the impression it's more because the bidbot owners are getting rich off people not understanding the math behind it... and the fact that the reward pool is supposed to be shared by everyone. Basically, there is a fixed amount of Steem to be rewarded to content. The "best" content should get the most rewards... however, every time someone uses a bid bot, that person is effectively stealing a higher portion of the reward pool from everyone else.... especially those people that put hours into a post or video.
The thing is, bid bots are so popular that they aren't providing a positive ROI, especially after the 25% curation is removed. So, the only winners are the bid bot owners... literally everyone else in the platform loses.
Now a days all bots giving loss votes.
That's why they are hated now.
