New price record for Japanese whiskies! Last year (2017) in April a collection of 296 bottles from he Karuizawa distillery (closed) fetched a record of £770,000 (US$985,000) at an auction held by Whisky Auctioneer. This January 30's (2018) new record however is for a single bottle of Japanese whisky. Sold at the Sotheby’s branch in Hong Kong, A bottle of 50-year-old Yamazaki, originaly bottled in 2011, became the most expensive bottle of Japanese whisky ever sold at auction, with a price tag of HK$2.3 million ($299,000). This almost doubles the previous record, also held by a Yamazaki 50, when a 2005 bottling of this most coveted single malt was sold at the same auction house for HK$1 million ($129,000).
I saw this news couple of days ago... That's quite a lot for a whisky bottle...
Would you open this bottle for this money?)))
