Welcome to our sixth edition of [Whiskey Club Tasting]. Today we have our Irish friend Kilbeggan here so out of respect of the Irish whiskey culture we will write every whisky with an "e" - Whiskey.
The Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey comes with alc. 40% vol. in a 0.7 litre bottle with a screw cap.
So nothing special so far. What is special is that we see a whiskey from the oldest continually licensed Irish whiskey distillery founded in 1757. The Kilbeggan Whiskey is double distilled.
Taste
On the bottle it says this whiskey should be smooth and balmy but if you take your first sip you will only taste alcohol at its best. After that you will taste malty notes and also a bit of peach, nougat and vanilla. At the end you will taste a bit of oak from the oak cask the whiskey matured in.
Of course this whiskey is one of the cheaper whiskies you might find. It only costs around $ 15.
Conclusion: You shouldn't drink it pure except you like the taste of alcohol in your whiskey. This whiskey is good for mixing it.
Probably you try a "Whiskey Sour":

Optic
Because of the caramel coloring the whisky has a great brown and golden color.
So to sum it up we wouldn't suggest to drink this whiskey pure. There are far better whiskies out there.
