I don't mean to sound callous, but it may be better for him and to the cause if he were arrested. The conditions he has lived in the past 6 years and more so in the past few months cannot be so far different than what he would face. The only difference is that those of us who have not stood up for him as vigorously as we should have because we thought he was safe, would finally be challenged to 'rise like lions'. If we did not, then we deserve everything we get.

I assure you that conditions in the embassy are far gentler than the industrial slave processing centers that he would be housed in after a formal arrest.
You're unlikely to be raped by embassy staff, or shanked if you resist, for example. This is not to mention the myriad petty sadistic savageries that are endemic to the industrial processing of slaves in chains.
Shaking off the chains is far less easy than the morning dew, particularly if you're widely recognized as is Assange.
Hopefully they leave him alone. That said, he would be in a federal prison system, those are more of a country club setting. There has been plenty of famous people in the federal system and none have ever complained of being raped or shanked. Even at that famous people can afford protection. Yes others outside could pay them more to off him but someone taking such a drastic measure would drive, in my opinion, the finally nail in the coffin for the democrats as they are the only ones with deep enough desire to want revenge upon him, especially Hillary.
Country Club... He'll get the Chelsea Manning treatment at best.
Three hots and a cot, unlimited fan mail , unlimited access to attorneys and reporters, unlimited money donations to live as about as state of the art as one can get in prison. Hopefully he won't end up there but if he does he'll live way better than the majority of a prison population.
We should all be so lucky.
I wish to make it clear it is my hope that Mr. Assange is allowed to walk out freely from the gentler prison he has lived in for the past few years. Though if this were not to happen, unlike a low level prize which would be subjected to all the forms of treatment you have mentioned, a highly prized inmate with all eyes and lawyers from global human rights organizations would most likely be spared physical harm. Of course it would not be a picnic. What I'm trying to get at is that if things remain status quo then he may be confined in the embassy for the next 20 years and wither away while we continue to sleep.
As far as I know he was not even indicted. Also, I seriously doubt the USA will ever allow him or his lawyer to speak publicly. I suspect he will be interned in some foreign, solitary hell hole, subjected to torture to get his sources, and punish him for exposing the liars that are still very much in power
