It is so cool to see these out in the wild rather than just at the pet store!
The Green Anole (Anolis carolinensis) is also known as the Carolina Anole. Often, it will simply hest be referred to as a “chameleon” in the pet trade, but it is not a true Chameleon.
Although it is not a true Chameleon, the Green Anole can change colors between Brown and Green. The one in this post had been brown when I captured it, but switched to green. I have always enjoyed watching them change colors.
This lizard is commonly found across its natural habitat in the southeastern part of the United States, usually along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts. They are a harmless lizard that helps keep the insect population in check. For more info, you’ll have to check the video out.
The information is the video is original but I did have a quick refresher from this source.

I am a new follower to your blog - looks great, thanks very much for such live content - I see a big back catologue to check out. I love all things to do with nature and love macro photography as well as producing short films.
It's a wonderful way to spend one's time. Have a steemy day!
your 'creature features' are always entertaining and educational! as usual, thanks for sharing! i wish when i was growing up someone like you would have been around ;)
this is not so scary and you are looking like Superman with glasses in your photos man!
nice
Oh yes these ones we do have in Mauritius @papa-pepper, we find a lot in banana trees!
The green colour they have is so attractive!
Cheers
@progressivechef
cool
As a kid in Northeast Texas we would catch these and let them bite our ears. Their teeth are so small or not sharp that it didnt hurt and we would wear them like earrings for a minute or so until the little guy would ask himself "WHAT am I doing!??!!" He would let go and usually wise up against a second ear-ride.
Good times!!!
This time green anole. What happened to the crab last time?
The crab I let go, but there are more crabs to come.
Nice. Everytime i view your blogs and videos I get a good show. You have natural spirit for the outdoors. I can tell you find peace just being one with nature. Keep them coming @papa-pepper, I really enjoy your work.
I'm out there doing it anyway, so, thanks to Steemit, I can now share it all.
@slickhustler007 without making this a spam....just an offer...I have two YouTube channels with nature highlights similar to papa-pepper's, I can put links IF you are interested.
Peace ✌
Beautiful green anole @papa-pepper
How you get this animal?
And you are animal lover? If that true. We have same hobby. In my home, i have 4 cat. I give them eat fojr time a
The chameleon didn't camouflage...seems you are being gentle with your touch to the creature and is not frightened by your presence...Pretty Friendly...
These green anoles look scary to me. Its kind of a lizard. I am afraid of them. How you find them papa?
The live in the wild, and are fast. But still, I can catch them.
Skinks are faster ;)
And skinks are great about ducking under leaf litter or into a crack. I put up a couple vids on YouTube with them, but honestly not that good because they refuse to stay still for very long!!!
Yeah they are very squirmy lol
Hey @papa-pepper !!

Nice nice nice
Great post I am sure you have took efforts while posting this
Love all your posts but you are talking the truth, steemit gives us all a place to either tell how we feel or show something we like. It is nice as no one really knows you and you can say what you like.
The last time i saw this, i killed it instead of picking it up like you do and see what stuff it made off. I must be a bad person :)
Not a bad person, just mis-trained or mis-taught. So many today think of such creatures as pests or dangerous, and 95% are BENEFICIAL and harmless. But people are 'naturally' afraid of things they do not understand! It is great that @papa-pepper and You Tuber Anima Ex Nihilo can show that most of these creatures are good.
gud
Your photos @papa-pepper , as always, are exciting! The wild nature of your country is exotic for me!
Travel with me! I hope you enjoy my best works last week! Maybe you have not seen everyone!

nice job
love your post here - thanks for sharing . i upvoted you. peace keep 'em coming,, Cryptoted
I love the green anole. Used to see them all the time in Georgia. In maryland i haven't seen any darn lizards. Lol. Do you have skinks in your location? They have smoother skin and some have beautiful vibrant blue tails. They are VERY fast
Excellent ! Upvoted!
We have a lot of these guys running around here, even had a few in the greenhouse!
I love these little guys. We have them all over yard in North east Florida, and occasionally they get into the house and we have to rescue them. Our house is a pinkish color, so it's not unusual to see one blending right in with the stucco!
Green to brown I have seen, but you say they can change to almost pink and blend in with pink!?? That would be cool to see!!
Well, I suppose it's a pinkish brown - like a beige. I do have some images somewhere, but have so many hard drives full of images now, that I may have trouble finding it. Maybe I'll see one soon in that color and will photograph him!
Great I love chameleon still find it incredible the changing colour ability, nature is incredible hey!
I don't have enough wilderness around me. Just ants and spiders.
Vote for witness @cryptohazard
I've been so scared of Amphibians and Reptiles, I wouldn't know if it's a phobia or not. I'm trying to break out of the fears though. A little practice with some harmless amphibians would be helpful, but I'm not sure we have Green Anole in my country
Always enjoy reading your posts must be so cool having these in the wild there always a better place to see than in a pet store or zoo
I had never even known about them until I found one in my bedroom on Valentine's Day during a blizzard when I was in ninth grade. By the way, they aren't native to this area. (We have a lot of skinks, and somehow lots of gators on gold courses, but not green anoles.)
I caught it, took it to school to show my science teacher. He was amazed I'd found one here. I named him Raphael and he was a wonderful pet for around a year or so. I did get him a nice aquarium and a heat lamp. I bought him crickets, but I also caught him loads of other bugs when I could. His favorite bugs were fireflies.
He's cool 😎
