good afternoon community, I hope you are doing well this weekend, I wanted to tell you a little about these tiny animals that you must pay close attention to see them, they are always on the ground but few we see them. In Mexico we know them by various names and one of them is "cochinitas" and since I was a child we liked to play with them to make them into a ball and accept them, now I know that this was wrong and that these little animals fulfill a very important function in nature, how can they see in the photo they degrade organic matter in a matter of days which normally takes months, they are eating that food very happily and now as an adult I know that I must respect them and take care of them since they help make the planet much better
In South Eastern United States we call them pill bugs or roly-poly. They are actually crustaceans, I believe. Many people use them in terrariums and similar projects to keep the decaying matter at bay. It’s a very interesting picture. And I do believe it’s right to respect life and nature!
yes, you are absolutely right and I love watching them eat and thanks for the information that they are crustaceans, regards!
