From 1998 the Robert Magabe ZANU-PF government of Zimbabwe started a massive land-grab program which led to most commercial farmers in Zimbabwe having their land taken away and given to government officials.
In most cases the wildlife on the ranches and farms was soon destroyed.
It was a joy to drive along the road from Beitbridge to West Nicholson on the Bulawayo road, or from Beitbridge to Masvingo on the Harare road. As you drove past these ranches you could often see a great variety of animals including different kinds of antelope, buffalo and giraffe. In my many travels in the 1990s and 2000s I even saw Cheetah, Leopard and Elephant.
Sadly most of the game is now gone.
This photo was taken on the Masvingo road near the Lion and Elephant Hotel soon after this ranch was taken over. We were driving past when we witnessed this scene. The Giraffe had been snared with wire and killed for meat. My son and mom look on.
I want the government to give livelihood rights to the animals, they have to take good care of them
Some animals have went out of extinction due to some nefarious activities and policies that are not helping the evolution of animals. I think it is time to have a rethink. Because after animal, what is next? Humans! We should be very scared. I hope those in charge make the necessary adjustments
This is a bad Policy, a policy that doesn't encourage wild life protection and if such thing continues it will affect wild life niche. This is cruel indeed
Keren..
Where are humanity? You kill animals everywhere
Its not good. There should be animal rights. Good post.
I really like your post please i am new here and don't know what to post that steemit community will be impressed and happy about please if you can put me through i will appreciate thanks
It is very sad news. But this is the rule of nature @africaunited.
Quite sad @africaunited but then thats what you have when an old man such as Mugabe is ruling the country. @rezanur-rhaman, what do you mean by the rule of nature please?
Really cruel, killing a giraffe for meat my God.
Ouch!! Poor giraffe 😢😢
Erghh... that's the sad truth. If the policy didn't bother to change, there will be nothing left for future generations 😢
It is actually very sad
It is really disappointing that people dont care about other lives anymore, they have become so greedy i mean what they want is to benefit themselves only ,they dont care about what keeps on happening with the activities they do...i guess they are more changing into what is called masochist ...they dont have any right to live on this earth nor on anyone...it is really sad...
its a circle made by nature we can't blame any one.
Poaching should be banned with rigrous punishment. Whereby world is looking forward for animal rights, some people have turned so cruel . This is sad
@africaunited
This is truly sad, we can only hope there is still time to turn things around, for some it is too late, but we all need to try and re-establish the blessings that Africa has left.
We need to work and stand together as a continent, I think we do not realise just how much we actually have which the rest of the world does not, and if we do the right thing and conserve and develop what we naturally have given to us my nature, the money and everything else we desire will follow.
Stay Blessed, and Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika
so sad to see that. @africaunitef thanks for this awareness for public. may u have lord choice for this mission. my upvote for u.
It's really hurt me to see the post. I cried for the poor animal. I senn this live for once in boyhood at the zoo...
waduh very sorry for the animal when the population is declining
That is an extremely sad picture to see :(
The reason why most wild life have gone on extinction in most countries in Africa because they think every animal should be used as meat. To even think there isn't strong animal right laws in place to protect this wild life or the people have decided not to obey this laws, one is always the case. Animal cruelty should be stopped. Conserve our wild lives

It's sad. They are awful people. Greed and the human race, the real never ending story.
Oh oh, this situation must never be repeated again.
The animals are in their own terrritories.
A totalitarian government is very bad.
Your contribution to make a call to conscience is good.
Have a great day.
Poor giraffe.
Nothing makes me more angry than useless death of any beautiful creature. Wha has this land grab accomplished? Who benefits? 🐓🐓
