I have been retelling people of my experiences in ancient woodlands and how magical they feel and it had me pondering what it like to live in a world with out trees? Joni Mitchell nails the sentiment I think in Big Yellow Taxi
They took all the trees
Put 'em in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
But it seems some of us take it more seriously than others. Like @inesafreedom. She and @redrica were at the Wildlife Protection Camp in the Colne Valley protesting the progress of HS2, which as well all know is over hyped, over budget, and over time and many are starting to see it as the white elephant it is.
Anyway.. I only met @inesafreedom once at a Steem Meetup, but liked her passion and her enthusiasm. See how she loves to include everyone into things? We could all do with getting more involved in protecting our environment of that there is not doubt.
This country has lost so much woodland over centuries and we do have space to restore some of it. There are some new forests being created. They just take centuries to get established properly. We can't afford to trash what we have.
Amen.
Which ancient woodlands?
