With one million two hundred thousand hectares of vineyards, Spain is the first cultivated area of the world. According to experts, more than 5000 years ago, grapes were grown and wine was made in our country.
The Albariño is one of the twenty varieties that constitute 80% of the Spanish national production.
It characterizes to the grape its aroma, remembering to that of an apricot. Albariño wine is a white wine, broad, dry, very light and delicious. It has a yellow-beating color, bright, with golden and green irisations. It has floral and fruity aromas, fine and distinguished. It is pleasant, medium intensity and medium-long duration. Its flavor is fresh and smooth, with enough body and alcoholic graduation (11 to 13% Vol.), Balanced. Its aftertaste is pleasant, elegant and complete.
The history of the Albariño Festival begins in the 50's, in a meeting of friends, to check which was the best Albariño. They agreed to call a contest so that the harvesters presented their wines in order to choose who had the best.
Five days before Sunday, the inauguration takes place at one o'clock on the Paseo de la Calzada (celebrated in Cambados, Galicia, Spain) where the parties begin with a group of bagpipes.
The "stands" for the tasting of the wines are opened. During the following days and nights there are numerous events: concerts, theater and children's workshops, parades and festivals.
Thanks for this. Great stuff. I have visited Cambados before and some wineries in the Rias Baixas and loved it. The style of wine is world class. Ill be back in Galicia in September and will try to drive up. But nect year.. the festival!!
