Grapes on the vine - a wine tasting weekend

in #wine8 years ago (edited)

My uncle and cousin visited us this past weekend. We love wine and going to wineries for wine tasting. In our local region there are about twenty-five wineries. The climate is hot and dry but with a little coastal breeze coming from the west. Although the breeze comes through, it's too hot to grow any other type of wine grapes than reds. Most of the white and sparkling wines are brought in from other regions.

Out of the twenty-five local wineries we managed to go to eleven of them in two days. Whew!! It was a busy weekend but it was also great to do some winery hopping. Several of the wineries offer amazing views and have very cheerful staff.

One of the vineyards was nearby our tasting so I hopped on over to the grapes and snapped this pic:

The grape season is blossoming right now and the green luscious grapes will be producing lots of wine later in the fall.

I do love wine and tasted several these last few days. Most of the wineries were a first time visit for us. I look forward to going back out there and doing more local wine tasting in the near future.

Cheers! 🍷

What was your pick of the day?

Oh man, @lenskonig , there were so many good wines and a few so-so ones. I would say the coffee flavored port from Kirigin Winery stood out the most. If you love coffee then this port is a treat! Would love to take you on a local winery tour someday.

I love coffee and port! Oh my life!

Yes please!
