With every changing season comes the ever-evolving makeup trends.

Pantone picks its color of the year. Designers set the tone for their seasonal looks, and the Artistic Directors collaborate on the looks that will polish off the runway shows.

With winter right around the corner, we’re seeing these emerging trends in new makeup campaigns that are showing up in our inboxes, Sephora, and social media. This cooler weather calls for deeper tones, layered clothes, and lots of pumpkin spice lattes.

Winter is usually the time when our skin is drier due to the cold air outside and the heater blasting inside. The fluctuation from cold air to hot air will cause some major dry patches in the skin.

Face cream

Invest in a hydrating face cream that will lock in moisture. Check out First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration $32. This decadent cream in a tub has ingredients that will nourish dry, itchy skin for better makeup application.

Foundation

Sheer, dewy skin is always in, especially during winter months. There’s nothing prettier than radiant, healthy-looking skin. Try Nars Sheer Glow Foundation $47 or Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint $12.74 if you want to test out the look before committing to a high-end brand.

Both brands will give a nice healthy glow to the skin. Don’t forget to lightly dust some translucent powder on your T-zone and under your eyes.

Minimal Makeup

Simple makeup never goes out of style. It’s classic and timeless. Winter months are the best time to keep your face as natural as possible. You’ll naturally get flushed cheeks due to the cold weather. Barely-there makeup and a nice dewy highlighter are always a good idea.

Becca Cosmetics Glow Silk Highlighter Drops in Champagne $32 is the perfect amount of soft gold radiance for the cheekbone.

Natural Brows

If you’re one of the smart ones that listened to your mom when you were younger, you probably still have nice full brows. For the rest of us, we have to try and fake it with brow products.

Brows are so important, they frame and balance the face. If you want to fake some needed brow hairs, Glossier has you covered with their Brow Flick $18 for the perfect faux-brow hairs.

Vampy lips

Nothing says winter like a deep-toned lipstick. This is usually the telltale sign that winter is here. This bold hue is a showstopper. Make sure you prep your lips prior to wearing this color so the lipstick goes on smooth.

Nars has a long-lasting comfortable formula called Velvet Lip Glide $26. Check out the color Toy, a deep aubergine.

Lastly, we all know that the bold eyeliner will never go out of style. You can sport a thick winged liner or go for a more daring version that incorporates glitter or bold colors.

For that perfect inky black liner, try Make Up For Ever’s Ink Liner $24 for a classic black wing. Add a little sparkle for some extra oomph with Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner $21.
