The sun has fled again. Clouds have taken over the sky, and fog in sight. The feeling of winter is increasing again in the capital. The winter frost has finally started coming through the northern part of the country. Dense fog and freezing winds have spread from Rangpur to Rajshahi. Heavy rains along with cold and fog have also started across the north.
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy fog, light rain and cold winds in the north on Monday. And it can increase the feeling of winter. There may be moderate fog from evening to dawn.
The forecast says that clouds will move from the sky in most parts of the country, including the northern part, from Tuesday. The fog will also decrease. Then the winter will continue to grow. Especially in the north, there will be more winter. Meanwhile, the lowest temperature in the country was 13.8 degrees Celsius in Naogaon's Badalgachhi on Sunday. The minimum temperature in other parts of the country was also below 20 degrees Celsius.
Meteorologist Abdul Mannan of the Meteorological Department told Prothom Alo that the winter may increase after the clouds clear from Tuesday. However, in a few days, another light pressure may form in the Bay of Bengal. Then again the sky will be cloudy and winter may come down.
Meteorologists say that a hostile relationship has been formed with the Bay of Bengal this winter. The low pressure starts in the Bay of Bengal as the temperature decreases and the winter does not freeze. Winter winds are driven by clouds from the sea and warm winds.
From November to the beginning of December, the winter of the country is going in this direction.
The Meteorological Department's forecast for December is going to repeat the same trend. Meanwhile, a depression and cyclone hit the Bay of Bengal this month and hit the southern coast of India. It has now become a weak lightweight. Due to this, the sky has become cloudy over large areas of Bangladesh and India.
According to the current December forecast, one to two depressions may form in the Bay of Bengal this month. This is likely to turn into a cyclone. Towards the end of the month, one to two mild cold spells may form in the northern, north-western and central parts of the country. The minimum temperature in those parts of the country may drop to six to eight degrees Celsius during the cold spell.
Meanwhile, a review by the Meteorological Department in November said that the country received 43.8 mm less rain than normal in that month. Only Barisal division received normal rainfall. The rest of the area has received less than half the rainfall.
