Winter Fun Without Snow.

in #winter7 years ago

Well this is our fifth winter here on the homestead and it finely got cold enough that we could go out on the pond without falling through. It wasn't thick enough to go out in the middle but you could slide around about 10 feet from shore.

Every winter I have to bust up ice for the cows so that they can drink.

When I took my knife out of my pocket to test how thick the ice was and when I put it on the ice it actually left an imprint of the knife on the ice.

The ice was around two inches thick.

Around 10 ft out there was a transition in the ice. It almost looked like it got thicker but no one went out on it.

No better workout than chopping a hole in the ice for the livestock to drink:)

It is a good work out:)

Did the ice make a lot of cracking sounds the farther out you went?

No. We never heard a crack.
