Here Are Some More Of My Wirewraps

in #wireweaving7 years ago

I noticed that you guys were loving my wire work. So I wanted to take a moment to share my story, and post a few more photos. I've been making wire wraps for about two years now, which I honestly just realized. It's something I can do that makes me happy, and that people love! Wearable art!! :D I am truly enjoying making them, although some times creative flow is slower than other times.

This is the front view on a piece of jade that I wrapped for a dear friend. She loved it very much and paid me well for it. (More than my asking price, I must add) Every piece is one of a kind, handmade, and I time everything out. I work for $20/hour currently, making these. I've recently been asked to bring a stockpile down to my FAVOURITE tattoo shop in town, as well, which I am extremely excited about!!

This is another view of the front, in case you were wondering what the other side may look like. I set a timer which I turn off as I take breaks, so everything is accurately timed, and I don't even have to work for too long if I don't feel up to it. I love working on MY OWN TIME :D There is nobody there to tell me to keep going if I'm lacking energy. I am my own boss, and I plan to keep it this way, definitely.

That is what the back of it looks like. My goal is to make them look beautiful, no matter which way you look at it. The back should be just as lovely as the front. I want to know the ways in which you all choose to work for yourselves, and whether or not you keep a 9-5 job. My goal is to never do any sort of work that I do not agree with 100%. My other job is eco-friendly housecleaning!! We don't use any harsh chemicals, and we are equal partners. It makes me feel good to help others as well! Tell me a story~

Sort:

This is absolutely beautiful! I was amazed to see the back and got confused for a moment before reading the text. Thought it was the front, haha!
I'm a full time stay at home mommy with a set of twins and a baby. It doesn't pay and is the hardest job I've ever had that doesn't give breaks! I would never trade my babies for anything!! My passions, or hobbies, are creating with my hands pretty much anything I can or have an urge to do! Especially gift items! Right now I'm mainly making jewelry- wearable art:) I've made a wirewrap ring before the New Year, if you want to check it out. My current project is making a giraffe dream catcher wallart for my newborn neice. Somday I dream to have a beautiful workshop combined with a boutique/gallery with a coffeshop so friends can hang!!

I'd love to check it out!! Definitely! I love my son too, though he lives with his grandparents. I was quite young when I gave birth. I just recently started working through and processing the trauma I have experienced around that. I am feeling confident. Perhaps one day my son will live with me again.

Let me know when you do:) I'm sorry to hear that! I hope so too!! I had mine at 24 and feel like that was to young for me. Those times were very hard to and still jabe effects on us to this day that we are trying hard to overcome still. I pray someday soon that will be over with and we can enjoy our lives more as a family:) to better days and more blessed ones for us both!!

Sorry, let you know when I do what?

Yeah, I was 18... Still a child myself, at the time...

Ahh I love seeing your works up close, the intricacy has always amazed me, I don't think I have the patience for that nor the organization to time myself haha.

I too refuse to work somewhere I dont agree with, so luckily I have been working at Summerhill last year and maybe this year, and Steemit! I can now say that Steemit provides for all of my needs.

Awe yeahhhh, glad that you are doing well with it. I have a feeling I will in time as well

it takes a bit to get the hang of it thats for sure, but like everything practice is key!

I will remain diligent!

Attractive art, nice work!
I share your energy for crystals, environment, sustainability and being Ones own boss! I'm a Hermetic Practitioner, bringing all knowledge together in one practice, for a single purpose - the good of All. I'll be posting higher knowledge, and applied knowledge of holistic health basis, right up your alley! I am drawn to connection with plants and animals, people too if they are connected, I'm going to be a Druid when I grow old, self taught, currently in training. Also I'm beginning to study an ancient form of Magic or True Mental Alchemy, called Jedidiah - the Adepts were known as 'Jedai' ;-)

That's so awesome!! Power to ya, young Jedai <3

I'm not sure about steemit. Seems like a lot of people being rewarded for posting nonsense & garbage. I am very interested to ask what you know about the 'Jedai'? Seeing as you have the true spelling right, you probably have some insight into the ancient practice of 'Jedaiah', am I right?

Very cool. I like your design.

Thank you so much!! It's all intuitive, too, I never really map them out first.

Beautiful work!! I like how you manage the time spent and don't allow yourself to get exhausted. I would like to purchase one or more from you at some point. :)

I do have that amethyst one that I posted yesterday, for a mere $40 etransferred ;) any chance you like that one? I'm trying to go out for a friend's birthday tonight :O

I'm grinding on my resources right now to replace my generator but as soon as I figure that out I'll know what I can afford. ^_^ I really like the one you posted here. It's fitting Jade being my middle name and all :P

That's a great project!! Awwweee. I don't have the jade one anymore. ^_^ And there will never be one exactly like it, but I am more than willing to work with jade for you in the future <3 Love ya Tasha

As it should be, each piece is unique! Awesome thankyou rawrrr!! Love you too Shay <3

Awwwe yeah!! ^_^ One of a kind <3

Definitely a quality piece here! You must have some innate talent for viewing proportion because these seem arranged according to some golden ratio or something, lol!

That's a beautiful way to look at it, hehe. It's definitely something which feels innate to me. Almost as if I had done it before, in another life, another timeline... or something like that :D hehe THANK YOU for this wonderful compliment on my hard work!!

loving your work. i make similar stuff, just starting out on here as well. i always really struggle with making the back look as good as the front, its definitely a skill, hiding all the ends!

If I could give you any amount of advice on that, I'd suggest to never cut the wire until you are absolutely sure that that is where it should end :)

Thats a good tip! I tend to do that when working with silver due to the cost of wire but wuth copper im generally a lot less precious! Something ive found that always looks amazing in addition to the wire is small beads, you can get copper ones that look great. Ill post some bits and tag you to show you what i mean

I've not made the switch to silver yet, OMG! Yes I love the look of beads as well. Please do tell ^_^ I haven't figured out where to find them just yet. Or how to incorporate them for that matter.. hehe

You should to sell it on peerhub. https://www.peerhub.com!

Thank you for the advice :) and a new option in life!

no problem, you are welcome!

I made a gumroad store yesterday as well. Will check out peerhub sometime today <3

Very cool wish i had that kinda skill . I want to figure out how to do that triple coil triple gap but with kanthal a1 so I could make some jewelry looking coils to vape on ha ha

To be honest I have no idea what that means, hehe <3 I VAPE TOOOO hehehe but I have not ever made my own coils.

well you should try to its easy with a little practice . its just warping wire around screw drivers or smaller wire around larger wire . I made this it looks ok but still need to work on my fusing
https://steemit.com/vape/@chris777/4-core-spaced-fused-clapton-coil

Oh, I'm sure I could do that. But I use a drill.

yeah, you have to

Georgous intricate work!

Thank you very much <3
