"Never overestimate yourself. Never underestimate your adversary. Never overestimate what you know or underestimate what you do not know."
It's amazing how someone can have the perfect communication talent.
What do you think, is it better to learn by trial and error? or learn from the lessons of others?
PD:
I still wait for some day you publish your book haha.
I’d say, there is no absolute black-or-white answer to that (or many other questions).
Some lessons, it’d definitely better to learn from others’ mistakes.
Others, even if it’d seem “better” to skip the mistakes yourself by intellectually learning from others, you just really have to go through yourself to get them through direct experience, which drives them home at a far deeper level. Some can’t be skipped, but are just part of the personal journey that we may have to go through, as there is no substitute for the wisdom unlocked through experience - *versus the lessons of others typically translating more into knowledge.
And, there may be upsides and downsides to both options - so “better” would really depend on the context and values/priorities/criteria chosen/defined.
So really, every lesson is different/unique, as is every person, at different times in life - no one-size-fits-all answer.
Haha, I appreciate the reminder! Have been contemplating a specific idea the last couple days... probably a timely, nourishing nudge and affirmation to keep in focus... ☺️
Then I'm left with "each lesson is unique, as is each person"
There are questions that are a mystery.
There is a quote that says: "an intelligent man learns from his own mistakes, the wise learn from the mistakes of others"
As for the book,
I hope you find the point of thrust and focus, so that with inspiration you do it. I really will be delighted, because I see your talent in these areas
Finding this concept of “thrust and focus” interesting - especially the “thrust”.
Any particular insights or tips you might have on finding such, as an artist...?
You know, there is no absolute truth about things. There are many people who have felt pain, for them nothing is hard or soft, nothing is good or bad, it simply is.
The realities of each person is different.
What does this have to do with "thrust and focus"?
the thrust is what motivates you. I am motivated by my parents and my brother. wanting to give my mother what she deserves, makes me fight harder for my goals. I am motivated by people who do not believe in me, because it makes me want to prove to myself that I have the ability to do it.
The "thrust" is what makes you take the action, and "the focus" is to be clear about the goal and act accordingly without distractions.
I am from Venezuela, a country where there is dictatorship and tyranny, there are no promises for young people like me of a good future. have been lost, values, dreams, the principles of the human being, but I am aware that each person owns his own life even when human rights are violated. even wheneverything is against, I think that each person decides whether to use their soul, to live as it should, it is our obligation to find our passion and to contaminate people with it. In this life, whoever never gives up wins, and because self-love must always be greater than what we have for others. How can you love another if you do not love yourself? How can you help another if you are not able to meet your goals?.. He who comes to earth should therefore fulfill some of his passions to be able to say that he did not live in vain.

I had when i was younger, when my bull shit detector was not developed, got drawn into all the negative horror stories about the Mason's , never examining the fact that i knew nothing of them. Until i stumbled across this quote, which was in alignment with my own thoughts, and i thought, well well..........if that's the Masonic philosophy it's one i agree with over all other religions-
“The true Mason is not creed-bound. He realizes with the divine illumination of his lodge that as Mason his religion must be universal: Christ, Buddha or Mohammed, the name means little, for he recognizes only the light and not the bearer. He worships at every shrine, bows before every altar, whether in temple, mosque or cathedral, realizing with his truer understanding the oneness of all spiritual truth. All true Masons know that they only are heathen who, having great ideals, do not live up to them. They know that all religions are but one story told in divers ways for peoples whose ideals differ but whose great purpose is in harmony with Masonic ideals. North, east, south and west stretch the diversities of human thought, and while the ideals of man apparently differ, when all is said and the crystallization of form with its false concepts is swept away, one basic truth remains: all existing things are Temple Builders, laboring for a single end. No true Mason can be narrow, for his Lodge is the divine expression of all broadness. There is no place for little minds in a great work.”

We must maintain the balance, in ourselves and in our environment, so not only will we grow but we will give space for others to grow. A tree no matter how big it may grow will always need the earth and water to do so. So does man. There is a tendency in us to believe ourselves superior, above what surrounds us. The ego is a cancer that spreads and hurts the spirit and the mind. But there are also the others, those who day by day dawn with the desire to feel trampled on, to allow themselves to be humiliated, do not give themselves their fair value. No matter how many positive abilities they have, they will never use them because of their insecurity. Insecurity withers them. It is as if the tree is not nourished by its environment for fear. Life gives you gifts and some people do not open it because they think they are not for them, they are not worthy of any present that can give you life. The idea is to grow up knowing that beneath your branches the smallest can glow, but above you there is someone greater called God. Nice beginning of the week, @rok-sivante

I have just started listening to the lecture, but am going to have to sit down and have a listen later when I can attend to it completely.
I've never heard of Manly P Hall, I'm going to have to look him up. But just from what I am reading in your selection of quotes, I can see that I'm already resonating with what he is saying. It's similar to what I'm finding is the central and repeated message in the I Ching.
I'm finding that a lot of entrepreneurial types, and the people who adhere fanatically to The Secret and all those 'infinite growth, just think positive' folk fail to grasp the notions of prudence and consequence... its all about the Law of Attraction...
Thanks for sharing.
You'll love him!
Someone here on Steemit tipped me off to him a year or so ago. Nothing I've listened to of his has failed to live up the highest standards yet.
Here are a couple lectures, which I found to possibly be the best intros to his material yet, given there's so much available (and I haven't even touched his books yet, though curious)...
Never heard of him but I like his quotes!
If you're into esoteric teachings of any sort, he's definitely one to get into...
