This is a witness log that will give community brief update about my latest project works.
Summary: eSteem releases, SteemPoll development, Translation of eSteem and reward contributors, Witness update...
In-depth
Over last few weeks, eSteem had major improvements (Scheduled posts, Bandwidth/Traffic saver, etc.) as well as bug fixes. Work on v1.4.6 is underway and thanks to all who is reporting issues, suggestions to our github to further improve the app and their experience. Desktop wallet app and Web wallet apps are in development, soon to be revealed more information on feature set and release. Desktop app development slowed down last week, because I concentrated on SteemPoll, decided to release desktop app step by step only with ready to use features. Hope to do pre-release within few days.
Published beta improvements of SteemPoll at http://beta.steempoll.net , project is moving better and more focused direction. Thank you for @andrarchy, @arhag and many others who is giving their feedback and suggestions on future improvements. Quite excited about where this project is headed...
Translation of eSteem and future Steem apps - eSteem translations team is growing and different languages are simultaneously being translated. Come and join us if you want to volunteer and help us grow as well as get some reward. Amazed to see well over 160 people contributing translation, proofreading, and over 40 languages are ready to go with next release.
Witness
good-karmarunning HF18 (0.18.1) and continue producing blocks. I have my backup servers running HF19 for testing purpose. Witness parameters APR set to 0% to help pegging of SBD, price feed bias 0%. Registration fee is 0.3 STEEM due to recent price jump on Steem, will consider lowering it even more soon.All previous witness update posts can be found on my blog or here https://steemit.com/created/good-karma for easy access and reading.

Thanks's for all this work it's good to have someone putting in all this effort to help everyone here! Do you think there would ever be an option in the future to store STEEM in a desktop wallet and it collect STEEM POWER? I guess it would be kind of like staking.

I was about to work a post to @good-karma regarding the heavy data usage of the app like compression for the images because the app drains my data like no other app. I hope to notice the improvements on this area because the app is great but in my country mobile data is very expensive. Thanks for the update.
Hi @epico, Did you know we now have Bandwidth/Traffic saver feature?
You can go to Settings page and disable
Fetch imagesand app will save mobile data. It will not download post images when you open any post, you can manually tap on image to download it. It should save a lot of your traffic and gives you possibility to save your data usage. Check it out and let me know how it works...I'll go change the settings right now. Any compression for images thought for future updates?
I have some thoughts on Compression for images, still nothing significant to implement it. But it is on my todo list, will keep in mind to improve this area ;)
@good-karma, I really appreciate your wonderful contributions to make steemit user experience good. However, I still have trouble with the esteem app. Since the first day I downloaded the app, I've not been able to upvote anyone. I use an android phone (samsung galaxy S4) and not sure if the problem is peculiar to android phones. Please, let the developers know. My special interest now is in the steempool app . It's an app that I would like to be using from time to time. Upvoted, resteemed this post and have voted you as my witness. Cheers.
Hi Mary, I found that some users had issues and for some people it helped to reinstall app for some it helped to just restart app. But I am working to get next release out soon that should address all these issues. Could you share screenshot of error messages if any?
A couple of weeks ago, I was still seeing those error messages, but now that has been taken care of. Many thatnks to my witness, @good-karma.
Today, for the first time since I downloaded the app, it's no longer showing any error messages. Here a screenshot of a post that I was able to upvote a few minutes ago,

I own the same model. And the same thing happened to me at first. The only thing you have to do is restart the phone.

ps: need option to compress picture on eSteem to save more bandwidth
Since last release we already have Bandwidth saver feature, go to Settings page and disable Image fetching. It won't load images automatically within post when you open any post and you can manually load image by tapping on placeholder, which should save a lot of traffic. Let me know if it works...

But still, I suggest you to consider to add an option to compress picture when we create a post. Because most pictures in smartphone are HD. 😁

@good-karma What is the practical difference in usage between steemit.chat and discord? What are their most optimal uses for the most fulfilling experience on Steemit, would you say?
Discord has built-in calls and steemit.chat is more for messaging. I don't use discord daily but I do check every now and then.
