Recently we've been asked if we're a Community Witness or a Technical Witness. Since a lot of people tend to use these terms we won't argue with them and peg ourselves at 50/50. Tonight we look primarily at the Community Witness aspect. This is going to be one of those updates more on the dry side since there's a lot of accountability-based information to get through without making it too long.
Brief Witness Specs
- 64 GB RAM server

SteemSilverGold and Veterans Community Highlighters
After some hickups and a rapid switchover after Steem SQL went subscription-based, the current bot status is this:
- Two blockchain-based bots were designed -- what they do is replay a segment of the blockchain to produce their reading list
- They filled the gap when Steem SQL became unavailable and the Steem SQL-based bots were shut down (@inthenow was singlehandedly compiling the #veterans post until yesterday -- #steemsilvergold has been running off the blockchain bot for a week)
- The Steem SQL-based bots were created as a backup for the SteemData-based bots
- Failovers are manual -- if one bot doesn't fire the backup requires manual initiation
To make this less (or more) confusing, if that's possible, at this point, here is the current bot-version and contingency for the community highlighters that bring both the #steemsilvergold and #veterans communities a daily reading list of posts.
Main: SteemData
Failover: Blockchain
Last Resort: Steem SQL (for which a fee will have to be paid)
We're hoping this is enough to keep these highlighters going.

Standing Delegations

Several additional delegations are tied up in account creations and will be retrieved when/if no longer needed by the account owners.
The witness votes you grant us directly translate in our ability to generate SP in order to continue these delegations as necessary. As it stands now, we are running low.
Accounting
We provide a transparent and public log of all our transactions either based on community needs, activities (contests, fundraisers, etc), or otherwise promises. We always deliver.

Our fundraising post aimed at supporting school children in Ghana did not do as well as we hoped.
It raised a total of 10.06 SBD and 2.089 SP for the cause. Unfortunately with the current prices of the SBD that's falling short of the needs of the initiative. (The funds were raised to add to our initial donation of 15 SBD).
