Dies along with its cryptocurrencies, both the workhorse of a currency along with the one that should be a solution to offer an alternative to fiat USD when doing business!
It all dies, simply because some people do not want to invest into the long term of anything, but only worry about what is in front of them here and now.
Neither the data storage, nor the economics/cryptocurrencies are a short term project, yet as we saw and see, on too many chains out there, instant profits outweigh the real value that are being offered in the long term effort and investment.
Such is life.
? Is this ancient English?
If you're talking about HBD, It's barely working and there's about 20 alternatives that actually work with thousands of times more liquidity. Yes if HIVE the currency dies so will HBD.
Data storage? Hive isn't about data storage, if it is then it's extremely inefficient at it.
STEEM & SBD were what I was ref. to as far as passing away is concerned.
We can learn from the past, if we want to.
As for the human readable data on the chain, that is a different game, with an entirely different set of rules to the cryptocurrency market and the games of currencies/economics.
I hope many people learned a lesson from the past on Steem, when everything was equated to steemit.com.
Steemit.com can utilize the chain, not a problem.
Steemit.com can utilize the cryptocurrencies on the chain, not a problem.
But steemit.com is not the be all, end all of everything that the chain has to offer to this world.
Nor can the currencies and the economics be imprisoned into a jail cell of one niche.
Many saw it all go to hell, let's not do a rerun of the past hoping for a different ending.
Hive is more similar to Steem than Steem was before the fork. (still 13 weeks power down)
What's your point anyway? SBD works the same way as HBD, SBD is more pegged to 1 USD than HBD, So how's that distinction matter?
My point was; you're not focusing on the right thing.
BTW I had no idea I was responding to a 2yo comment, I just saw you posted the link in MM.
All good. The point was to confirm that the issues with the witness voting are nothing new.
But that was relevant to the MM discussion.
As far as the difference between Steem and Hive:
Steem, one must bow down, kneel down to somebody and everything must serve for the good of the one company or group of companies.
On Hive, we finally have a real opportunity to diversify the use of our cryptocurrencies, to make the ideas from 2017 come to life.
Why waste such a wonderful opportunity?
Such opportunities come around maybe once in a lifetime, for many it is recognizing the opportunity when it is there, right in front of us.
I sincerely believe that we can make it happen, that we can take our HIVE & HBD to the "mainstream" rather than doing the silly thing and hope that the mainstream comes to Hive.
ref. a little newer post on that exact topic:

The best thing about Hive, in my mind is that no matter what route of business one takes, it will add to the diversity of Hive and to make it even better, we (all of us) are on the same team. Something that is rare in this crazy world we live in, but I see it daily. A real synergy is forming that is not exclusive, but all the more inclusive to new people, ideas, endeavours and most importantly, a level of acceptance and tolerance that is constantly growing.
Although, it is hard to make anything utopia, but in all honesty, I have not seen so much positivity and acceptance anywhere in a very long time, like what I see happening among the active people who want to see Hive become a world wide, household name.
