How Engaged Are Steemit Users in Voting for Witnesses?
That's what this weekly report is all about.
This week's engagement rate for accounts with 100,000 VESTS or more is:
20.86%
That's up 2.8% from last week, with a 5% increase in new users.
If you're not sure what a witness vote is, or why it's important, please see my older post Steemit is Free, But Your Witness Vote Determines its Future.
This report uses @arcange's STEEMSQL.
MV
stands for Million VESTS.
VESTS are like vested shares in Steemit and relate to Steem by a ratio (484.765 Steem per MV as of this report).
VESTS impact the weight of your vote on posts and the influence of your vote for Steemit Witnesses.
Here's how I'm filtering the data:
All Accounts
: No filter applied, includes all accounts.> 100,000
: Accounts with 100,000 or more VESTS.> 0 Posts
: Accounts which have posted at least once.> 100k & > 0 Posts
: Accounts with 100,000 or more VESTS who have also posted at least once.Active
: Accounts which have voted, commented, and posted a root post in the last 30 days.
The percentage values in parentheses show the change since last week's report.

If you know people on this list, maybe encourage them to set a proxy voter or ask them why they aren't voting right now. Those like myself who are working to move up the witness ranks would sure appreciate their support.
Have You Voted for a Witness?
If you haven't voted yet, please consider setting @lukestokes as your proxy voter. Otherwise, go vote for some Steemit Witnesses you've interacted with and respect to do what's in the best interest of the network. I hope that includes my witness, @lukestokes.mhth.
Again, if you're not sure what a witness vote is, or why it's important, please see my older post Steemit is Free, But Your Witness Vote Determines its Future.
Thank you! I hope you found this useful.

Off topic but @dan.finlay, he's one of the developers of Metamask for Ethereum and he's long been a favorite Twitter follow of mine, he just joined Steem and I think you would appreciate his approach to not just crypto but life. Like you, he's an ethical, though, positive maker.
His first post is about making the world better in a specific way, worth your attention:

Thanks @eeks! What a cool idea. I gave him a follow and really appreciate the introduction.
As of last week you are in my list of witnesses :-)
Thank you!
Very good info about the importance of voting for witnesses. I guess that those with smaller accounts can also excercise their democratic responsibilities
I voted u pl see my blog too.
Nice Job ...upvoted
I have voted for my witnesses, but my support is not the same as the number of witnesses I have selected.
Can you help explain to me why this happened? What do I not understand about this?
I don't understand what you mean. The witnesses you've voted for can be seen here: https://steemd.com/@djunmul (scroll down and view them on the left)
I've seen it, it turns out you're one of my witnesses. 😁
thanks.
Nice informative post @lukestokes sir, i have a question that why we need to set you as proxy voter.
Please read the post I linked to which explains witness voting and proxy voting. You don't need to set me as your proxy voter, but you're welcome to if you don't want to do witness voting yourself.
Ok sir thanks.
I voted for @agoric.systems Everyone should go check them out ASAP.
I really like this post
I really like this post 👍
Witness play one of the very important role in creating blocks on steem network. By voting it means you support them.
I guess I need to start voting more people for witnesses.
I wish I could vote for everyone but I try to reserve my votes for users like you @lukestokes who not only have a desire to keep the blockchain running but make great informative content.
I think I've already voted for you, I'll check to make sure. I've still got 20+ witness votes left and would like to delegate them, but I understand that to do so would allow the delegee to change your votes- something I'm uncomfortable with.
Yeah, when you set a proxy then your existing votes go away, unfortunately. Would be nice if you could proxy just unused votes, but that's now how the system works right now.
Well, that sucks... It's my ultimate upvote- my show of support for people that I consider especially valuable to the platform... Thank you for your generous tip by the way!
You're welcome. I hope you find peace and security.
Thank you... Peace I have, security...
That's the first I've heard of delegating witness votes. I can understand how you could, but I've never heard of anyone doing that.
It's called a proxy voter. The concept exists within BitShares as well. In practice, it just means your VESTS add weight to the vote of the proxy voter as if you voted for witnesses exactly as they did.
nice post....I am a new steemians, maybe i should study first with you, regards know me

One of the worst ways to build relationships is to be desperate for follows. Please, don't do that.
i read what you posted on @richq11 plea ... and how you helped him ... you totally have my witness vote ... world needs more people like you , i followed you and hope i can help you in any way
Thanks so much. I really appreciate your support.
Thanks for this informative post Luke! Turns out I've been voting for you for a while, and I was also voting for an inactive witness, so thanks for the heads up! I appreciate what you do man, and I am also a huge proponent of Voluntaryism. I am also very appreciative of the fact that you've been my #2 upvoter lately (https://steemit.com/steemit/@amvanaken/check-out-my-upvote-statistics-and-hear-my-reasoning-for-why-i-m-only-using-50-max-voting-power-on-my-posts-from-now-on), right behind fyrstikken :D Also I'm curious, how did you make your awesome Banner at the bottom of your posts?
