They are not even the same thing, if facebook has a crypto it is so people can give each other cents for regurgitating content, very little would go to actual content authors. It would be more like what reddcoin is trying to do but using opengraph facebook can turn a like button into a here is one cent button quite easily probably have people pay out in local currency instead of the crap exchanges we have to deal with in normal crypto situations.
Steem is a great blockchain but steemit.com is still just a proof of concept, and I mention it a lot but steemit.com , as is, is only comparable to medium.com if the push is to get facebookers and the mob in you need steem itself to change a few things maybe too many things to facilitate people giving money to whatever they want without it being able to hurt the value, instead if they do "rape a reward pool" they should do themselves harm.

No, I can't give concrete examples of what I think should change, this is just my opinion based on my limited experience on the platform and even less experience in crypto and my feeling that if you do allow any group of people to form a hive you will get stung to death.
