Mostly interesting for those using me as a voting proxy: I just removed my votes for all (known to me) for-profit bid bot operators. No idea why I didn't do that earlier, I blame my lazyness.

Sounds good. I'm not entirely against bidbots but I don't think they should be witnesses. Only thing that bothers me about bidbots is how they skew the metrics for the topics on the trending page.

Probably some AI integration in the future would help with that, by noticing who paid for votes... Or the oracle system that Ned was talking about.

Nice. I have mixed emotions about bid bots. The concept isn’t bad, but like all potentially good things - they get abused. I tried them a while ago to promote my contest, but just ended up feeling dirty afterwards.
edit - Freaking weird that my brother and I both started our spiels in the exact same way. 😑

Nice. It was bizarre seeing the reign of bid bots rise to power last year. HA! The photo drew me in to this post, lol. Holy shit! Can you imagine being the photographer that took that? I’d just hang up my camera knowing I’d never top that. Thanks your commitment to STEEM @pharesim.

I think we can find it only in Steemd doesn't it? Could be great to have that list... and even if sometimes I have to use Bots I think that being a Witness is a different thing at all. There is a thin line separating both sides...

I looked around for sources, there's a list on steem.central, but that's far from complete. In the end I googled for announcement posts of the biggest bots, but if they wouldn't tell there's no way to know.

I'm not sure what you mean. But as you vote for witnesses yourself and not by proxy, this doesn't influence you at all.

I was curious what are your criteria for voting witnesses. I understand that one of your criteria for not voting witnesses is supporting bid bots, but what do you support for a witness?
As I am a witness myself for more than 2 years, I'm not hiding the fact that I'm openly campaigning these days. :)
