Hi Steemit!
Not a lot going on this week, very working on some projects. Both primary and secondary witness nodes have been working good. I haven't had the need to fail over to the secondary witness.
My witness monitor has been working well, I did some testing with taking down a witness and it notified me prior to any blocks being dropped. It was a backup witness so it would not have missed blocks but currently, there is no way to be notified if a witness goes down and does not miss blocks. I have to add some more exceptions for different scenarios.
This week I took a big hit on my witness campaign, out of nowhere @jerrybanfield decided to witness vote me. Later during the week, I noticed he was pitching a new Steemit account creation service. The price of this service was 50 steem and an optional but pressured 10-20 steem tip. @jerrybanfield has a lot of followers that are new to Steemit and don't understand this service is only 6 STEEM to anyone and you get 100% back as vested Steem Power in your new account.
I knew this was going to cost me a huge vote when you factor in his proxied voters, but I chose to speak up and make a comment about how this service is available for free through other means and even through paid means for only 10 STEEM if you were concerned about being anonymous. It did end up costing me his vote, but in the end, he canceled the service claiming he didn't know about the other options, while he posted about them earlier.
I have also noticed more students of @jerrybanfield's $180 "witness course" showing up in #witness requesting help because they bought his course and still didn't know how to set up a witness and @jerrybanfield doesn't offer any support.
I am very active in #witness and #witness-blocks and try to help out whenever someone struggling.
I got a new gif promoting my witness campaign. Those who know me, know I am a big Firefly fan. I felt it was only fitting to use Malcolm Reynolds. I always liked @drakos & @kingscrown animated avatar and wanted one of my own.
Malcolm should aim for the vote button :)

Hi @themarkymark, thank you for this post.
I only found you today, however have been following Jerry for a while and felt the same about his whole account creation idea as it unfolded. I truly appreciate you for speaking out and having integrity.
Initially I thought I would remove my witness vote from him and replace it with yours. However thinking deeper on it I will simply vote for you both as I haven't filled all of my witness votes yet.
I am really excited to see what happens with the @buildawhale initiative and want to learn more about whale shares so well played on that one sir.
I'll continue to support Jerry for now as I feel he is doing a great service to the platform especially with his youtube exposure and sheer daily grind, to consistently putting out content as he does takes a lot of effort.
However I will certainly be watching him closer in future as I for one find it difficult to believe he didn't know what he was doing there and I find greed a huge turn off.
