Hey all, I'm aggroed. I'm a witness, and I'm in the top 20. I have a lot going on in that I run splinterlands and hive-engine. I build a lot of apps and tools. I'm one of the team members behind hive keychain. I helped create nftshowroom.com where over 1000 artists sell their art NFTs and they have made 400k Hive in that process. hive Engine supports games like dcity and tribes like leofinance. I think it's a pretty important piece of the Hive ecosystem.
I use my witness rewards to add liquidity to Hive-Engine and pay for development on hive-engine. Hive engine does not make a profit. I'm spending more on devs than it makes on fees and that comes out of personal funds.
I've put a few hundred thousand Hive into there for you guys to be able to trade while we're still updating the Decentralized Token Funds so that we can get BEE rewards to liquidity pool stakers. It's coming. It's in the works, but it's taking some time. But that development costs money!
I would like to do proposals to help fund that development and fund more liquidity, but the whales don't universally support my efforts here. Many seem to think I'm just a money grubbing asshat. The asshat part may be true, but I think the money grubbing thing is wrong.
Splinterlands makes money, but it's not like it's a cash bonanza for us personally. We hire devs, we run a business, we have brought over 110k registered users to get to know Hive. that said it doesn't translate automatically into cash on hand for me personally. So, while your first instinct may be "well fuck that guy he has plenty of money" I actually spend the money as fast as I get it and more helping to make hive cooler.
If you like that please vote for my witness. The Hive that I get from that will continue to fund Hive Development and liquidity pools.
I guess I'll try again on some proposals. Maybe back fund some of the opensource development work we've done like make opensource NFT contracts. We'll see. I suspect I won't get support. You'll notice a few mega whales on the platform choose not to vote for me or work that I do here. it makes it tough to get platform funds to help build platform wide tools that have a massive impact on the success of Hive and it's token price.
Anyway, if you have a spare vote please consider putting on my witness and let's make Hive moon.
Hey aggroed, I've been voting for you as witness for quite a long time, not because I think you need the HIVE, but simply because you've been building some of the most valuable projects for Hive. And if that, in combination with showing the world that people who provide value for Hive are going to be rewarded, is not a good enough reason, I don't know what is.

I've gotten some feedback from a few folks (they already vote for me so it isn't a sway thing) that they really want the apr to be 10%. I've adjusted up.

Opinions are one thing but the facts are simple. You and yaba have build more for the community than almost anybody else here. When I vote for a witness it is for the people that add to hive instead of take away from it.

Well at least it’s good to know that the whales really don’t support anyone but themselves so I have your back buddy! I am thankful for Hive Engine in that it has allowed me to build my businesses such as @hivelist and @hivehustlers, which my hive engine witness pays to keep those up so I feel you, lol. It’s not cheap to support a community much less the entire second layer that supports all of the tribes. Keep it up!

I like your work a vote for you already. I know there is some history there that would be great to air for the entire community so maybe we can resolve it. I would like to see a post were all these whales hash it out so we can see all sides. I want these whale battles to be over because it hurts the rest of our community. I would love to see an end to the in fighting and whales arguing over pennies. With a bit of effort and combined planning they could turn it into dollars and branch out separately into their own projects.
With hive running smoothly people could focus on their own corner of the chain and not have to be fighting over the same patch of chain. Think smarter and long term.
I'd like to know what kind of beef is out there. I have gotten the impression over time that there are people here who aren't supportive of you specifically and not trusting you with money is also something that has come up. Why?

I seem to recall once thinking you were a money grubbing asshat (over the switch from hive or dec to credits for affiliate bonuses... but someone explained it was something of a necessity so I got over it) ...so I wonder if it's that level of contention or if there's serious behind the scenes stuff that drive this narrative.
I'm also unclear what kind of legal issues you're involved in and if that feeds the concerns, and if so if they're justified.
But for what it's worth, I think you're doing great work here. In fact, I think most people don't know how significant the work you're doing here is.

simply do a proposal, IMO if it could lower the cost to a very affordable level to get Smts to hive for everyone, it should get voted.
Even the Whales that don't want to support any sidechain know, cheap smts are a key metric for hives success + onboarding.
But I agree with the point, Hive engine has its own government system and the average hive user has no influence on it. That is something that makes it difficult IMO.
I think you know better what cost/ benefit would be.
Besides the DAO, I think you have a really good reputation to raise additional funds for a project :) And if some whales do MIMIMI, Hive engine deliver a product that works. IMO if HE could handle soft wallets for super cheap onboarding, it would be worth to fund 1000%!!!
Already a voter and supporter of your witness, but I'll reiterate that I love what you are doing for the greater Hive community and I will continue to support your witness for that reason. I know you put a lot more time, energy, and resources (including your own money) into supporting and developing improvements for the greater Hive community. I have unfortunately seen some members of the splinterlands discord and what not put forth comments along the lines of "money grubbing" and such; and I must say I hate seeing comments like that about yourself and some other witnesses/contributors. As a fellow hobbyist hive dev/contributor and witness myself, I've observed that sometimes members of the community who aren't quite as involved or simply just unaware sometimes forget that most of us are just volunteers, and I think that some deserved kudos to yourself, core devs, and other contributors (who really are just volunteers) is in order!
So anyway, TL;DR thanks for all you do and your hard work in helping to improve Hive. I love being able to contribute as a dev alongside great contributors like yourself and for most often times, little to no compensation or recognition. Which is okay, because I am sure you have a similar stance as myself in that we do these things not for those reasons, but instead to contribute to a better future for Hive and the world of blockchain in general! Have a !BEER on me and keep doing you, I certainly appreciate your dedication and hope the greater community agrees as well :)

Not raising the APR to 10% was the reason for me to remove my vote in the past. Will vote now, as he raised it to 10% and I think he has done a lot of work for the Hive ecosystem.

it's not 100% out of pocket. It's just expense>revenue. I have long term hope for this thing, so I stay at it. Maybe one day I'll be able to dev less stuff... but probably not.

Well, you certainly get my (very tiny) vote @aggroed as I reckon you probably do as much to functionally enable the broader Hive ecosystem as anyone out there. Without Hive-Engine, who knows if layer two communities and tokens would even exist? And Splinterlands was (for the longest time) the ONLY thing St€€em/Hive had that globally draw people to the Hive ecosystem directly via fiat currency (credit cards) and may still be that...?

It would be more accurate to say registered over 110K HIVE accounts through our services though rather than infer those are all unique humans behind the accounts. Not saying majority isn't unique users.. But I know that a number of farming bot accounts run by one person are included in this number.
Just figured I'd put that out there.. As bad ass as bringing 110K users in to HIVE sounds if I had to guess it would be surprising if that 110K accounts represented 10,000 actual users perhaps all the way up to 50,000.. Whish still, is nothing to be scoffed at!
