This morning I was reading this post about witnesses by azir and I was reminded that I should make an update post about my witness which hasn't been done since late Summer... of 2023!.
Ouch! 498 days. Shame on me. I really lost track of what was my last witness update.
I check regularly If everything keeps going smoothly though.
In this case, the absence of news is ''good news''. You know what I mean.
However, since it's been so long since the last time, I think it's a good time to capture in my timeline who I am and what I do for the chain and why you should consider giving me one of those precious witness votes.
I'm a finance-oriented witness
What does that mean, you may ask.
Very simple. I like numbers.
That means I like to back up information with data to support arguments.
''People lie, numbers do not.''
I also like honest people who go with the truth forward and have no problem admitting their own mistakes. I try to be like that. Luckily for me I'm often wrong and have plenty of opportunities to put this into practice.
I'm mainly interested about the whole economic part of Hive.
I'm interested in it's distribution system, it's transparency and it's degree of decentralization (much higher than the average out there).
The idea of the HBD and how it empowers communities and individuals alike.
Sometimes I fantasize about a HIVE in the billions of market cap and wonder curiously what it will look like from the outside.
It's for sure far away but... Does HIVE have the potential to exist as an autonomous “decentralized republic”?
What would the hypothetical inhabitants of this internet-based republic/state look like?
How would it affect the already established countries?

Ah, I also trade from time to time and I'm currently in the middle of a career change and I'm studying to became a dev.
Things are getting settled little by little. One step at a time...
My Project: Hive Power Ventures & the PWR token.
To achieve a Hive with billions in the market cap we need the number to go up.
And this it's not only done onboarding more users, we need to make holding HIVE and HBD more desirable.
Hive Power Ventures and the PWR token is my little contribution.
Holding Hive Power comes with a great degree of commitment, with one of (if not the most) longer unstake times: 3 months and a week for his holders. Which is a big friction point for a space which moves very fast. 3 months feels like an eternity in this sense.
Here it comes the PWR token.
Backed by HIVE, it's a soft pegged token to HIVE (on the downside) which basically allows anyone to hold 'liquid HIVE' but with an APR and returns similar to holding HIVE Power.
It started being distributed through Hive Power delegations. My plan is to make it a growth token eventually. It has been running for more than a year with my own funds and resources. For now it's growing healthy and compounding.
An important detail to mention is that after covering the maintenance costs each month of my witness, I reinvest 100% of the remainder in my project.
It is one more way of betting on what I believe in.

More About my Personal Vision
Not long ago, I started toying with the idea of creating a sort of ''hedge-fund'' backed by the DHF. This is still just an idea which I have in mind.
Basically I'm thinking about Michael Saylor or Do Kwon buying bitcoin, but for Hive.
However, seeing how many headaches this would bring to me and all the parts involved, I tend to think that the materialisation of this idea would be better implemented into PWR.
I would like a PWR token backed by millions of HIVE Power, acting as a 'subcommunity of a community' composed by wealthy open minded individuals, getting involved in Hive governance and other future projects.
Because I believe that in the future there will be no individual witnesses (or they will be rarer). Witnesses will be associations of people (yes, communities), in the same way that bitcoin miners today are mining pools.
Hopefully empo.witness & Hive Power Ventures is still a witness when that day comes.
HIVE as a token will still be 'abundant' (you will still be able to buy a bunch of them), but will also be much scarcer than it is today. Will be fun when activity starts constraining Hive bandwitch and RC's becoming much more limited.
HBD loans and sovereign debt in HBD? One can dream.

What setup do you run now for your witness server, and do you have redundancy backup? Maybe this is interesting to know, for the ones who care also about the health of the blockchain. A friend of mine was running a witness before, and I gave him the hardware for it. It was one of the few, if not the only server back then, that was local and not remote. It also had a backup serve online, in case of power outage.
Since I was very low in the ranks and I ran the server at a loss for +1 year I thought there was no need for a redundancy backup.
But well, things are changing. Might have to consider it.
The witness is on a VPS from privex with the following specs:
CPU: 4 Core
RAM: 16 GB
SSD: 500 GB
OS: Ubuntu 20.04
pretty much the standard, It's been running without any major incident since ~3 years almost
Thank you for the detail. Privex is good, even there are some doubts if the chain can function, if the servers are down, as most witnesses use privex servers. The devs have made an amazing job at keeping the requirements at this level, with the increase in infromation needed.

Short version is that you make HIVE attractive for investors that are interested in DeFi. One of the most common uses of blockchain is speculation. Taking a look at DefiLlama is enough of a proof. What you are bringing in is a reason for those speculators to try out HIVE. We already have a lot of attention on us due to the recent trading volumes (and price action).
