Just specifying what I have heard in the past. I firmly don't agree with this action what so ever and why I put my neck out making this post.
I bought nothing why don't you tell that to anyone paying for witness votes, @howo? Cause that's a thing that people do.
Well you basically run the witness and give 60% of your earnings (or is it the other way around ? I don't care). To jerry, that's a cut of your earnings. That's a cut of your earnings that you pay to him for that witness. So yes, you bought and are still buying your way in that position.
So you get 400 steem a month to run his witness, promoting his name and basically give him free money.
Money that he is using to directly harm the network by advocating against it.
If you're ok with all of this and continue. Then you're the worst kind of witness that's in it just for the short term gains.

Make it a post he comments on and confirms stipulation. In the interest of both transparency and accountability. He also proxies his witness vote through you, which is probably a positive since it should/could remove mutual ‘paid for’ witness votes he may have benefitted previously.
Yes he does and has for a while now. I tend to vote for witnesses below or around me (spot 127 or so) it encourage them to keep adding more decentralization to our platform.

He wouldn't be #35 otherwise.
But to me, Jerry is a scammer and having his name up in the witness ranks is bad for Steem. Especially since he is actively slandering Steem off the chain.
I'm sure he was not the only one that bought votes. But you can be sure that is not going to happen as long as I have control. If he does I'll shut it down.
You already have the benefit of those bought votes, regardless I will not stand by while Jerry Banfield's name climbs the witness ranks again while off chain he is slandering Steem. He has said himself "I have been banned by almost every website I have been active in" and has proven himself to be shady time and time again.

Well if @jrswab is running the witness account @jerrybanfield by default @jrswab is supporting whatever the @jerrybanfield account posts to the chain, right? Like proxy posting by default?

I agree that it does not make it right but the votes still happened and at least he was honest enough to talk about it.
