On occasion, two or three times a month, I like to go drive for Uber and Lyft. It gets me away from my website hosting network for a while and I find it's an awesome way to meet new people and see parts of Atlanta I have never seen before. Today I picked up 17 passengers, put $160 in my pocket, burned 8 gallons of gas and put 248 miles on the odometer. Oh and that $160 will be spent at coinbase.com for bitcoin that I will use to buy more steem on Bittrex.com.
This is a map of today's 'tracks'.

The app is from Greenalp.com & you can learn about it here
I have begun witnessing to my rideshare passengers about steemit.com now. No one gets out without my 'steemy' testimony having been spilled freely into the conversation. I'll be driving again tomorrow only I plan to print some business cards to take with me after I publish this post. You know It's really interesting to also see how many people have never even heard of Bitcoin much less STEEM. So far they all tell me they have heard of Facebook and Twitter though.
So tomorrow I plan to drive again. But I have a mission. I plan to bring as many people to STEEMIT.com as a can while making new friends and putting fiat cash in my pocket that will of course be converted to more STEEM. That is a win win.
You know when all of us current Steemians are Steem millionaires people will still be wandering aimlessly about clueless to the wealth they missed out on. Not just with no knowledge or possession of Bitcoin but they will have missed out on what I contend is the best social platform available on the internet. It also is the best example of the blockchain working in everyday life. It is a tangible result built on stored by and protected by Blockchain technology.
I imagine in a couple of years the early adopters of steemit.com will be sitting fat and happy like those people that bought stock in some crazy company named Yahoo 25 years ago.
Well wish me luck for tomorrow. I am sure I will be able to also deliver another post possible about some new place I saw or person I met. But most of all I hope to bring at least one person into the the STEEMY light.
That's pretty nice, how long of a day was that?
7 hours logged with Uber and 2 on Lyft
The ride were pretty much non stop.
Perhaps a wait time of ten min at the very longest.
Dang, that's a really nice day.
I do wonder where those who were early adopters of Steemit will be, 10 years from now.
There were about 1/2 million people online when I got my first Internet connection. "They" said it was just a "toy" for geeks, developers and academics, and it would "never catch on" with the mainstream.
"They" clearly were wrong...
I recall those days. compuserve and prodigy soon aol followed. Hell I still have a copy of Netscape on Floppy disc. I used to sell business cards and letterheads on the BBS's I did pretty good. And to think I could have been the next Vistaprint.com if I had stuck with it.
Thank you for reading my post.
I hope you follow me after this. I have some pretty interesting original stuff coming up.
You never know what a nightmare can bring to a social media blog..... chapter1....
I was thinking about getting some easy offtime cash with uber, are the people you pick up really as bad as others make them out to be, I mean, I've got a couple of college buds who always use uber and I'd never let them in my car. Otherwise, doing great things for steem you are.
I have been sexually assaulted by a gay man and his boyfriend once while their two lesbian friend sat squished in the back of the car singing the Star SPangled Banner at the top of their lungs on SnapChat. Perhaps one day I will steem that story but I now focus on outside the 285 perimeter because of that incident. If I get a ride that takes me inside of the downtown area I turn my apps off and head back to safer territory.
I'm sure that story'll make a great steem, and it seems I gotta make sure where the dangerous areas are before I even try it, have territory and perimeters set up to keep my mental health safe.
"two STEEMS worth" I like that! Nice post, I've been considering doing Uber & Lyft myself and this is an interesting perspective on it.
You have to try and look at it as something other than a source of income or it can be ... oh lets say too much like driving to and from work.
Thanks for the reply. I hope you follow me I will have more tails and something new.
Yes I can see many benefits besides just getting paid in fiat to drive people around. You're welcome, & you have been followed & upvoted. I hope you decide to check out my page and do the same =]
Could put your Steemit user name on your car as a sticker!
That is an excellent idea.
Ill have that made before my next outing.
Thank you.

I charge my last job with steem power
I am not sure I understand but would not mind you elaborating later on.
Thank you for reading my post and replying.
I hope you took the time to follow me to see what else I have coming up posting wise.
My last job I find the client is in the group steemit and I ask if can pay me not with money but if can transfer to me some steemit and a get paid like that
That is rocking. I also have asked my hosting clients to start paying me in crypto. I have one that is now doing so regularly. I find it a much better transaction and the transaction fee is zilch compared to bank fees..
I a better currency Than usd or £ I believe steemit is under value , good luck
hi, nice to read about you.
i am, sajedul ahmed, from bangladesh,am also new on steemit and welcome you to steemit.
i have followed you. so, can also follow me plz.and plz upvoted my post.
best of luck...
This is and could be a very interesting ongoing post! Both in how to operate on Uber and things You learn from your customers!
Well I do not drive very often. It is as I said a break from the everyday doldrums of hosting and working from home. But this post got a good deal of response in comparison to my others so I may have found a niche to post on for Steemit.
Thank you for your input and I hope you take the time to follow me and look back in on my future post.
I also always try to find new users for Steemit. in my city I can't find any cripto currency user.
Well even in Atlanta I found that only 5 people of the 17 I gave rides too knew what bitcoin was. And one thought it was just dome internet fad. They had no idea what the market cap was on crypto and none of them had a clue about blockchain ledger capabilities. I really went over their heads when I tried to explain the chain.
Keep plugging away at it though. Eventually you will find someone to share your crypto experience with.
Thanks much for replying to my post and adding your input.
I hope you took the time to follow me and will look back in on my later post.
I have some REALLY wild stuff coming up later today. Chapter 1......
I have a lot of challenge about explaining the chain for example like you. Really, this is a part of our future world and so its difficult to explain. however. I like your idea about using Uber and explaining about steemit. But I can't driving! so I can't use that. (in my country there is no Uber but we have application like Uber) But I already explained about steemit for so many of my friends and now some of them uses steemit. :) (followed)
That is very cool. Perhaps we can get one of our STEEM scholars like @JerryBanfield to do a post about "Explaining the Blockchain to Joe Public". Something that we can print out in an index card and give to people. Welcome to your future. Have some blockchain with your coffee and donuts.
Yes, Thanks
Thanks for sharing. It’s great if you can find anyone that knows about crypto or that wants to know about it. I find that when I tell my Uber passengers about Steemit they are usually only familiar with Twitter and get more interested in Steemit when they find out they could be paid to do what they already like doing. Great job getting the word out for Steemit. Keep Steeming and one day it will be a household word. Those driving histories are great and sometimes funny when you look at all the zigzagging you might do during the day. Have a great day and safe trips.
Thanks for he safety wishes Becca. Those do not go unheeded. Last week in Atlanta a "food Delivery Driver" was ambushed by 4 people at an address that turned out to be a vacant house. He was shot in the back but happened to also carry a firearm and was able to get one of the suspects in the leg. The other three got away.
Driving strangers is dangerous way to earn extra money. I would hate to depend on it for my sole income. That being said I am a conceal carry permit holder and I keep a 380 on the steering column and a 9mm on my hip.
I hope I NEVER have to use them but I will not go down without a fight.
I’m glad you keep safety in mind. Sad to hear about the driver that got shot, that is such terrible news. Atlanta I would not want to work in. I always drive through it at 4am hoping not to catch too much traffic. My kids were worried when I started uber but I told them it is no worse than my other job when I have to work on ATM machines. Just keep on your toes and stay aware of surroundings. Good luck in your travels and hope you never encounter the need to exercise your conceal carry license.
Your hopes are mine.
Did you hear about the ATM van stolen here last week? IT was left running but locked outside the bank, strangley enough that is company policy. Anyway whomever stole it got away with $1.8 Million dollars, No die packs no GPS and no recorded serial numbers.
Oh my gosh that is terrible policy unless there is another driver waiting in the van. Which in my area there always is. Except for us that work on them, we have armed guards watching our backs. Hopefully they will be caught. I did not hear about that, hope the person that left it running did not get hurt. The things some people do sometimes, they broke into one at a mall in daylight and shot a tech servicing it a few years back in my area. Just shows how much more careful we need to be every day.
Absolutely nuts!
http://www.fox5atlanta.com/news/fbi-searching-for-thief-who-stole-atm-courier-van-with-18-million-inside
That is just crazy. I bet they will be adjusting their policy after that. That is not just pocket change they lost.
Great job spreading the word! What a great way to do it! I’m in Atl and uber often...I’m always spreading the word to my drivers! Steem on!!
Very cool. Perhaps one day Uber will match us for a ride. OR perhaps we could arrange a STEEMIT meetup in Atlanta. 100s of Steemians meeting together That would be cool.
I’ll be so happy when more companies start to accept crypto! I’m a ITPer all the way though. 😆
Congratulations @libertyranger!
