This weekend I decided to update my Witness server to the latest version. The current HIVE version is 1.27.4 and so far I have version 1.27.0 running.
The four updates were not necessary but in order to have more activity as well as another backup Witness to be on the latest version, I am now installing these updates. I assume that my Backup Witness Node will be unavailable for about 12h.
Update of the Witness Node
I simply used the following commands to update the software to the latest version, remove my current intermediate state in the RAM and replay it using the existing block log:
disable witness (Witness disabled over the PeakD Frontend)
git pull
./run.sh stop
./run.sh install
./run.sh clean shm
./run.sh replay
If I then see tomorrow, in the process of the day, that I am done with the replay and see everything at the head block in front, then I will activate my Witness again.
At the current time I have already managed about 10% of the replay.
