I was gone for nearly four months and the first thing I saw was some of their promoted posts, talking in circles, like usual. Same shit, different day. After this much time, and not making any forward progress, seemingly only digging the hole deeper instead; well that just tells me making progress and getting positive results was never the goal.

This isn't about 'solving a problem'. The solutions are already available and can even be improved upon. Several people have pointed that out, several times. It's going in one ear and out the other.
the glaring majority of people here past present and future I can guarantee are proponents of free speech, freedom of expression, freedom of the arts, and so on. That is something thousands of people here take great pride in.

Of course it's ignored because this isn't about finding solutions. It's about creating division and maintaining it. Putting on a show with shades of smear campaign; nonstop.

Sadly, very few witnesses even replied to the offer of $1.7M worth of support for them! I'm not sure if that is because they don't pay attention to the chain or because they disagree that misuse of downvotes is a big problem for hive.
Freedom also involves not being forced, cornered, or pressured into saying something out of fear of smear.
Frustrating to watch because I feel like the only one who can see "Freedom fighters" acting like fucking control freaks.

This is the tactic of trolls - with no stake. Smear - that is all they have - otherwise they are impotent.
Trolls, perhaps. That type is typically aware of how counterproductive their behavior is. An intentional act. But to be oblivious to it all, displaying arrogance along the way, and unaware of the elements of self-sabotage for instance; that's something else, entirely.

Well. Not speaking on any specific case directly, but having studied many; the striking similarities are most likely not a coincidence. There are also plenty of types positioned in similar situations, so comparisons are available. I'm certain you're capable of answering your own question.

Since the slightest inconvenience is usually enough to trigger the downward spiral, in general, globally, I can assume without saying much you've noticed how that particular phenomenon has lit up like a beacon, exposing itself to humanity, contributing to much of the chaos... ? All while plenty of innocent bystanders who might not fully grasp what's happening are pulled along into the fray, while more and more of that type step in to help reinforce the walls, in a sense. Trapping themselves, while yelling about wanting out, because making sense of any situation doesn't come naturally, it's fabricated, in a sense, as the spiral tightens. I've been running scenarios through my mind; similar to a tornado, what happens to this spiral of great magnitude sucking in all these clouded minds, when it gets the point where it reaches the surface...
