#wiwcontest Sunday Anything Goes - Marble Gargoyle

in #wiwcontest7 years ago

I’m not sure where a gargoyle fits in @dmcamera’s daily #wiwcontest, so Sunday’s #anythinggoes category makes it easy. I visited the Flagler Museum in Palm Beach last week and there were these strange white marble gargoyles peering over the edge of the fountain in the courtyard of the house. There were four of them holding onto the edge of the fountain with their mouths open. It looked like they were waiting for some water to splash in.

Or perhaps the look on their faces was related to the bathing nymph in the the center of the fountain.

That look may not be thirst.

Nice pictures and write-up Boss!😀More Inspirations and Motivations. @dabeckster

Thanks!

You are welcome.

Excellent artwork, both. The first one reminds me of Clay from SOA :)

SOA?

Sons Of Anarchy

Hah! Too funny.

Indeed it is :)

Gargoyles are said to ward off evil:) Perhaps they were protecting the fair maiden:)

That’s certainly a glass half full interpretation!

Haha ... yes ... I try:)

kind of weird but also so very cool

It was very weird. 😁

Hehe... those are pretty creepy gargoyles, but how cool is that shot????

Thanks. I think it had to be pretty risqué for the time period it was made.
