Upcycled Oilcan Mandola - Making of & Soundtest

Here is the making of video and soundtest of the Oilcan Mandola. I hope you like it :)

Parts used:

Body: oilcan
Neck: Mahogany
Fretboard: Wenge
Tailpiece: forks
Tuning-pegs: Harley Benton
Strings: Fisoma F3120M
Tuning: Gdae'

The songs I play in the end are Morrison's Jig and the chords to Whiskey in the jar.

This is how I make instruments. I never properly learned how to make instruments, "real" luthiers might be doing it completely differently.

I have the utmost respect for the "real" luthiers but without us the world would be an uneventful boring place where no one could afford an instrument and there would be no imagination. I have a friend that builds 4000 dollar acoustic guitars and we send each other business often...... What you do is tradition and roots culture.

Cheers to that, I completely agree! :)
