My 3 p's of woodworking:
Patience, Persistence, and Pride.
Every bit of love put into the work shows through.
This cherry tree found itself in between a 100+ year old red oak tree, and the ground. Poor ole fella fell down in a wind storm, and I went to cut it up. Took a few small logs to my "wood shop" to see what I could do with it. In a million years, I wouldn't have thought that a beat up log would be so beautiful.
Now when I see logs, I see treasure inside. With a few simple tools, it's possible to turn even a wedge of firewood into a priceless heirloom. It's got a bit of poetry built right into it.
I was just going to make a joke about holding my breath, shocked, as Big Rich (the biggest guy I know) suddenly sat on this at a party... "Sweet stool! I love this!" ****Plop**** ROFL. But I suppose I might as well share with you a little bit about the stool.
I made this a few years ago, and the day after it was done (but not finished) a friend offered me 400 bucks for it. I really just made it to see if I could do it, So I agreed, but that he had to wait a year (giving me time to dry and finish it). He pried from my grasp, a few more of my pieces... and it paid for my round trip to Nicaragua...
A few months later, he seemed to disappear.... Haven't seen him since really. It's still kickin around, awaiting its proper home.
follow me @durrlenestihl !
I get dizzy looking at it.....lol..... Gorgeous
Wow, just wow. I love wood. We have so much clearing we always do around here and I am always thinking, we should use some of this wood. I kind of want one of those little mini saw mills to make board lumber. How cool would it be to have a floor from boards you yourself planed on a mini sawmill?! Oh well, maybe one day.
This is really beautiful.
it would be awesome, I hope to one day build a house and everything inside of it.... all this is kinda pracice.
you can get narrow rift sawn boards from relatively small trees. You'll get 4 "perfect" boards that are about 1/3 the diameter of the tree, and at least 8 more that are narrower.
however i just been using my chainsaw :)
Wow this is beautiful..in my country they are really costly. I hope you continue this good work.. Patience, persistence pays bro
yeah, I don't really know what this stuff is worth. I don't like to sell it really. I do give some to charity auctions though.
what's your country?
am from Nigeria. its really nice to know you give them up for charity
I really like the design and the wood is a lovely colour. Good to here about the background.
