One of the easiest ways I've found to earn a a few bucks in my spare time is making cutting boards. Here's a sampling of a batch I made from some rejected tongue and groove pecan flooring.
I started by cutting all the material to length,
I then removed the tongue and ripped it to a bit oversize of my desired finished thickness, in this instance it was 1-1/4".
Next I glued and clamp to around 11" blanks as I only have a small planer and will be joining pairs to make larger boards from.
Two smaller pieces become one.
Next I cut to desired size and shape, as well as putting on an edge profile. You're only limited by your imagination.
Sanding, sanding, and more sanding gets you to the finishing stage. I use mineral oil and beeswax.
Interesting fact, pecan has a Janka rating of 1,820 lbf, you really want to stay above 950 lbf.
So there you have it, a couple of hours each evening after my regular job I knock these out for extra cash.

These are beautiful! Do you make anything else besides this? You should do coasters!
Thank you, I'll make a set and see if I get any interest in them. I like wine racks, small tables, and pet stuff. Still learning, looking to build some larger pieces.
That’s awesome. Post some pics if you make them! You do really nice work!
