I do this very often too, when I am bored with some task I just try to do it differently, use different tools etc. This keeps me inspired and I have learned a lot in the process. Sometimes it's my way of resting from some hard task.

That's a great way to change things a bit from time to time and to get a fresh view on how to finish your tasks. Glad to see that others are diversifying the things they do and how they do it in order to gain a new perspective and to experience new things :)
