The Isolation of the Night

in #work10 months ago

Ok so, I've been working the night shift for about the last 7 weeks. And while the extra 10% pay is nice, it's starting to get to me. Not while working, but when I'm off.

At first it was nice, I had time at night to get caught up some vidja games and shows. But now... I don't know. I feel like I need to start seeing and interacting with people again. However the problem with that is that when I have to be awake, most of the people I want to hangout with are sleeping.

So I've been looking for other ways to fill the void, so I started looking into Solo TTRPGs. So a quick google search later yielded two results, Mythic and Ironsworn. Mythic is more of Game Master Emulator than a game setting. While interesting, it wasn't really what I was looking for.

Ironsworn on the other hand is TTRPG build using the Powered by the Apocalypse move system and designed as a solo experience. Its also free, big plus in my book. But its a low medieval fantasy, not really my jam. However in 2022 they released Ironsworn: Starforged, a sci-fi follow-up. That was most certainly my jam.

So I'm working on getting the game started. The world building has be kinda fun, I'm looking forward to sharing it. At some point. When I'm ready. Eventually... Anyways...

This is a short one, just wanted to get something out. I'm trying to write more. So it's a "write and post anything" kinda thing. Anyway, see you next time.

You really should meet people. Maybe for coffee&cake during the day?

Its not a bad idea. During the week its not really viable due to work schedules and my need for sleep. But on the weekend, I do need to try and reach out. I think I'm going to try this Saturday.
