Knowing the kind of questions to expect when going for an interview helps boost your all round confidence, knowing the answers to give makes it even more interesting. This guide is to help you become better prepared.
Starting the interview
Question 1
How are you doing today?
Remember your interview begins ones you meet your interviewer. This question is meant to break the ice for your interview, your response should be pleasant and straightforward, such as “I'm doing fine", instead of saying i am nervous.
Question 2
Was it difficult finding your way here?
The question is meant to get you relaxed for the interview. Make sure your answer is short, such as “Not at all, it was quite easy" or “Yeah, wasn't as easy as i thought it would be", instead of No or Yes.
Question 3
Would you like some soda, tea or coffee?
To avoid spilling your drink accidentally it is always best to decline such offers. However if you are nervous and truly thirsty a glass of water is much more preferable.
Question 4
How long have you been job hunting?
Your answer should always be that you started recently. Such as “less than two months", this is to avoid explanations of why you haven't secured a job yet. Because if you tell the interviewer you have been job hunting for a long time you might have to explain why you haven't secured a job.
Question 5
Why do you need a job?
Employers want to know why you are applying for a job, so it is important to give them a positive reason rather than a negative one. Such as “I need the job as a learning field to grow my career". Don't ever tell an interviewer you need a job because you need a source of income or because you don't have a choice.
Question 6
How did you find out about our company?
Employers are always curious about how you found their establishments. Just say the medium through which you found the job opening, don't lie about it. If you tell the interviewer you found out about them through mass media when in truth they didn't put out their opening on mass media, you have totally ruined your chances of securing the job.

Also talk about the mission and vision statements of the company. It is good to have a background knowledge of a company before you go for an interview.

In this type of question you are expected to tell the interviewer something that will matter to the organization in other for you to be considered for the job. It is an opportunity for you to set yourself in the company's mind and get the interviewers attention. Go ahead and express yourself without being nervous. Express yourself professionally.
