Continued: 8 reasons to NOT work at home
- I live in organised chaos
- Sitting for long periods has made my bottom the size of the moon
- I walk around leaving jobs half done like some lost mental patient
- I have now become a huge fan of Jeremy Kyle- This is no joke it actually happened.
- No-one else does any housework because apparently, that is my job being at home all day
- The animals create opportunities to distract me from my work at ANY given opportunity.
- I have become a social recluse and I am a midget gem away from creating a friend out of a football.
- For sale sites and eBay have become the most effective way of spending my earnings…boom!!
Point 6:
ANIMALS DEVELOP GAME PLANS
Pets do not like to be ignored. They get used to you being around all the time and it causes dependency issues (and abuse)
Yes it’s true. My beloved pooch (Now in doggie heaven) for 11 years was a game player. He was my little boy Scottish Terrier, and I had a tendency to treat him like a human, although he obviously wasn't one, but over the years he developed his own language and ways to get what he wanted.
He was always a bit of a game player, and I am aware that he was not as innocent as he made out. He also upped his game when we got Ivan.
Ivan is our cat. When they first met Ivan didn’t like him. Hamish thought Ivan was his play mate. Ivan thought he was an idiot, and basically mastered the art of slapping him very early on.
I mentioned in an earlier post about how Hamish liked to booby trap me when he didn't get fed. Well that’s not the half of it. They both started doing it!
Not only did they barge their way into the bathroom when I’m on the loo, they stood behind me when I’m cooking, sat next to each other I may add, and sat randomly on different parts of my body.
Ivan thinks it’s funny to sit on my lap top and head butt me repeatedly if I ignore him.
I am not sure if there is a self help group for this sort of thing.
Please advise.
OMG!...you have hit the nail on the head but I do believe I am farther gone than you...I actually have a big rubber band ball at the office named of all things...Wilson...LOL. I also have a few pets at the office... I mean you really have to be lost in a warp when you find entertainment in snails!...upvoted and resteemed!
Haha your my kind of girl ! Everyone needs a Wilson...
If there was a self help group for this it would be full in minutes. So many of us have problems with our pets ruling the roost, especially cats. They come with a licence to make our lives difficult.
Tell me about it haha...
My large orange cat, Kublai, insists on sitting in my lap a lot when I work from home. If I don't give in, he will howl. Howl! Loudly! Sometimes at the door, sometimes down the hallway, but always mournfully. He's a beast.
He sounds like he maybe a distant relative of Ivan. He only ever behaves when he is at the vets, ironically. He is the devil in carnet
Kublai has lungs and he's not afraid to use them. If I try to take him anywhere in the car, I have to listen to howling and whining at top volume the whole trip. A few years back, when we moved up to Portland, I had him in the car howling for the whole 5 hour drive. He was hoarse when we got here.
Haha, bless him. Sounds like you have alot to contend with!
There's this guy on the couch across the room. Pretty sure he's real, and not a figment of my imagination (as I am pregnant with his child...unless that too is a delusion of extreme 'workathomeness'...) The only time we speak is before bed, when he pries me from my laptop. Oh, and to make fun of our schitzo kitty who is always chasing things we can't see...
There are far more productive ways to procrasterbate than turning a football into a friend. You'll probably abandon him anyway. ;-)
(sorry to hear about pooch...RIP little guy...TY for a big belly laugh. Us work from home types DO need a support group lol)
Lovely comments. Thankyou. Yes I too have a guy who sits in the room looking familiar. (that made me lol) sounds like we have a simalar sense of humour!
if you have a dog then buy a chain keep him chained all day and at evening take your dog to the park and have some fun with it play with him that's how u will be refreshed and your pet will also....you can also do the same with other pets if you have cat as your pet,,,,
