Hi everyone, its @akan the steemian .Coincidentally my first post decided to arrive today so It would seem fit to talk about this.
14th of June, 2018 is not the day Mohamed died, not the day Jesus ascended, not the day the world war ended, not the independence day, not the end of time not the beginning of harvest, not even the bokoharam girls captivated more heart that this day did, hearts and minds in one voice “ LIVING IT UP” in Moscow, Russia ready to host the most decorated event of the last leap year in football, from different part of the continents .
There’s one driving force in soccer I have always noticed and that is the power to bring people together in unity despite our odds and differences.
Everybody loves a good sport and one would look past any slight done to him or her by another fellow to see a good, fair and just game. This is what the world cup offers us as citizens of different countries. It brings us the fans and supporters together as we cheer our teams to victory.
Well back to the present world cup, there are 32 countries participating in the contest on which Germany is the defending champion, defeating Argentina 1 – 0 in the finals in 2014.Here are the countries participating in this year’s world cup;
Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, Egypt, England, France, Iceland,Iran,Japan,Mexico,Morroco,Nigeria,Panama,Peru,Poland,Portugal,Saudi Arabia ,Senegal, Serbia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia and Uruguay.
Well as you all know I am a Nigerian and so I can’t help but feel proud of my country as she qualified for the world cup. Our designer jerseys, grand style introduction, the pig’s prediction and our rock hard determination. For all I know, we might win this thing…smiles
The first match already took place by 4pm and the hosting country Russia took on Saudi Arabia leading with an astonishing 5 – 0. I will say that is a proper opening of the game like no other.
I look forward to the upcoming games which will be taking place everyday.
