Dubai's Future Architectural Masterpieces: Technosphere

in #world7 years ago (edited)

Dubai has some of the most magnificent and beautiful architecture ever.

Dubai is a very progressive city and is the largest in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It would be nice to travel to, for sure. I remember Michael Jackson had moved to Dubai, which seemed right up his alley because being there must be almost magical, as he was.

Technosphere - The "Death Star"

This building, Technosphere, designed by architect Rem Koolhaas, is called the Dubai Death Star, pattered after the 'death star' from Star Wars. It is slated for Waterfront City, a man-made island off the Dubai coast.

It stands 44 stories tall and is the largest circular structure on the planet. It will be 1.5 billion sq. ft. and hold 1.5 million people, which is expected to create over a million jobs and double Dubai's population. That's huge!

This building is a representation of how the Star Wars movies have influenced real-life, in this case, in the form of architecture.

Technosphere is encased in glass on a diagrid with cutouts that have gardens. The atrium is from the ground to the ceiling and opens up natural light into the building. The building's glass and greenery resemble Earth, although it was patterned from the Death Star concept. The structure is designed to have a self-contained ecosystem that generates solar power and recycles water, based on Planetary Cybertecture principles. It's very efficient!

Dubai is definitely very ambitious with its architectural projects, and this is only one futuristic building in the works. Dubai is working towards being the happiest and wealthiest city on the planet!

These are amazing. I love the colors and architecture on the main photo especially . The colors and designs flow perfectly. Reminds me a lot of Star Wars and sci fi movies. Thanks for sharing this.

Yes. Dubai is indeed a beautiful place. But, it's too bad that all its splendor is built on slave labor. :(

This one looks like the death star come to earth.

How scary actually! >;(
