In the town of Sidi Boulaalam in Essaouira province, aid was being distributed by a private charity where most of the victims injured and killed were women and elderly people.
A local association was distributing food in a market where it is estimated that at least 50 people were injured in the stampede. Even though investigation has been set, there's not much detail to the story.
A drought in Morocco has put a big dent in their agricultural state and it has spiked food cost. Once a week in a marker or "souk" authorities and private charities give aid to the people where it is known to be an extremely busy aid event.
I read an article that said King Mohammed VI was going to pay for the burials of the dead, and bills for the injured. That King Mohammed VI was going to go through all measures to soften the blow for the impoverished people of those impacted by this tragedy.

losing their lives when they went out for food is really terrible. God bless.Rest in peace
really heart-touching news
God bless you my child 😑😑
no word about this post😐
Sad news, but important information to get out. Good Post. Will follow.
Ok
Awesome. When a king has a heart for his people, then blessed are the people for the land will be in prosperity. If this drought is a regular occurrence in Morocco, it would be wise for the government to anticipate it every year and look for a way to reduce its effect. Probably they can build irrigation systems to help reduce the drought effect. Nice one
Thanks for the info. Its a real pity. I believe Africa would get past these phase where people get to risk their lives just to get food. I even heard that there is a hike in the price of food.
It's the usual thing happened allways everywhere that the government announces some petty money to the relatives or family members to zip out their mouth from protesting against them also to counter the oppositions. Actually the concern government authority also punished along with that who taking care of these charities, in my opinion a mass terminations.. @joseph
@amrumk, I like where you going with this but I don't so much agree with mass termination. But I do agree it has happened in many cases around the globe where blood money is offered.
@joseph , Yes off course you are also right.. am living in a democratic country..thats y i thought like this..If the the government officials are not corrupted there has a big limitations barrier for these politicians to to be corrupted..
I hope the King helps...he is a wonderful man.
Sorry for the loss of life, so sad.

What a terrible event. I had not heard about this until I read it here.
It's almost unbelievable that this happened in Morocco. It is a beautiful country with indefinite resources. Instead of reacting only when such things happen, the king should work to ensure such avoidable events do not happen. Thanks for the post, @joseph.
@wachera thanks for stopping by to read post.
