Hey everyone, at the beginning I would like to welcome you to my new contribution and hope you have a week so far which is full of positive experiences! Today I took the time to write something about an experience I had during my trip in Prague and I am happy if you like my contribution.
During my stay in Prague I decided to visit the well-known Prague Castle and I got up early and was one of the first visitors and had some time to look at the castle before the museums open which can be visited. The castle is already open in the early morning hours from 6:00 am, but most of the objects for visiting are only open from 9:00 am and there are ten different places that can be visited, but not all are included in the normal ticket and those who want to visit everything can still buy tickets for the additional exhibitions as well as the tower and those who want to visit everything should plan a few hours of time and those who want to do a tour through the castle without going into the history in more detail, can also do this for free. I have decided to purchase all tickets and slowly visit all stations and it can in any case be worthwhile to buy all tickets at once and those who start from 9:00 am should have managed to visit everything by noon and described on maps, the visitors simply find all the things worth seeing, but the opening hours must also be observed here and those who should be there later must note that most attractions close from 17:00 pm, even if the facility itself is open longer.
The castle can easily be reached on foot and it are about 400 steps to the castle and the terrain can be easily reached by car or public transport and it's especially interesting that it's the largest castle area in the world which was once even praised in Guinness Book of Records. In total, the place is over 40 hectares in size and has been rebuilt over the centuries and various Bohemian rulers have repeatedly taken care to improve security or adapt the building to the current time and for many years it was one of the most important centres of political rule and only during the 17th century, it lost its importance in this respect, but it's still considered the seat of the rulers in Czech. One of the most important times of the castle was under the former king of Bohemia Rudolf II (1552 - 1612) who had decided to invest large sums in the castle and during the visit everything can be learned about the history as well as the detailed construction of the castle. Depending on which side the castle is entered, the visitors first come to the castle courtyard or to the golden lane and I first visited the golden lane which is known for the idyllic location and not without reason there were some writers who were looking for inspiration here.
In the course of time the meaning of this lane has also changed and for some time it was also considered the place of residence of the guards as well as various workers and it's also particularly known for the alchemists who are said to have lived there, which is why it can also be described as one of the mysterious places of the castle. Near to the golden lane is the Rosenberg Palace which can be visited with a special ticket and was built by the Rosenberg family during the 16th century and a part of it can also be entered free of charge, while for the special exhibition in the other part of the building a different ticket is required. Those who are in the palace will be delighted with the magnificent artworks like ceiling paintings and inside there is also a lot to see which is connected with the history and immediately afterwards I went to the middle part of the castle where I visited the basilica, the royal palace and a museum which goes into the whole history of the Prague castle.
The museum is a little larger and has taken most of the time of all the sights and it was really worth it to visit this building which transports you from the internal construction also to the Middle Ages and here is described everything important about the history of the castle that people should know. Much of the castle is also not accessible to the public and as in other parts of Prague, there are some underground facilities under the castle which can be explored with a special guide or application and if you are specifically interested in it, I can highly recommend you to do more research on the Internet. In the middle of the castle there is also an exhibition which revolves more closely around the protectors of the castle and here the history of the guards is discussed in more detail and with examples the visitors also learn which equipment is used by the guards.
Next I visited the Di san Vito Cathedral and right next door there is the possibility to visit the tower which, however, requires an extra ticket and may not be recommended for everyone because many steps are needed to get to the top, but it's definitely a special experience with a unique view, which is why I would definitely recommend buying this extra ticket. Finally, I visited a large art gallery in which hundreds of paintings by famous artists are exhibited and it was definitely one of the interesting experiences in Prague to visit the entire castle and even if the castle can be visited free of charge, the special exhibitions should not be missed and it is like an investment in yourself to learn more about it.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about this exciting city! I captured these pictures with my iPhone 16 and Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.
