Hey dear community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new post and hope you have a weekend which is full of interesting experiences! In this article I would like to share with you a unique experience I made on my trip in Greece and I am happy if you like my contribution.
On my last day in Athens, I decided to visit the Panathenaic Stadium, which is known for the fact that the first Olympic Games of modern times took place there. Anyone who is interested in culture and should be in the city should not miss a visit here and great are also the opening hours because people are relatively flexible and have until evening for the visit, but before the visit it's important to take a closer look at the website because the opening hours during the seasons are different. Depending on the age group, the entrance fee varies and a normal ticket costs 10€ and allows admission to the stadium as well as the small museum and in addition it may also be of interest to combine it with other sights that are located in the immediate vicinity and the visit can be connected well with each other.
One of the most important performances was in 1896 when the Olympic Games took place there in Athens, but the history is already much older and presumably it was built as early as 566 BC. Over the centuries there were several reconstructions and it's probably also interesting that the entire stadium was built of marble and offers space for tens of thousands of visitors and there were some well-known personalities involved in the construction at that time and so the Roman senator Herodes Atticus also invested some resources in the reconstruction of the stadium. Before the stadium stood here there was a racetrack and it also has a mythological background because the first Panathenaic Games were held here which were celebrated in honour of the goddess of wisdom Athena and if it's compared with today's construction, the visitors did not had proper seats and had to position themselves in the surrounding area on the slope. Nowadays it's mainly considered an attraction for tourists and because of the lack of security measures it is no longer used for events but in 2004, there was again the time when it was used for archery at the Olympic Games and interesting is also the small museum which visitors reach when they walk through a long corridor which is located under the grandstand and who should plan to visit it should take about two hours for it.

Those are some awesome pictures, that is such a cool place! I'm glad you had the chance to visit and enjoy it. It's amazing to think that it's been there for more than 2,500 years. Here is the US a building that is 200 years is old ins ancient. Even the pyramids in Mexico and Central America are much newer. Thanks for the great post!

It was important for me to be able to visit it on the last day :) That’s true, the Greek culture is really very old and has set an example in many ways and can be seen as a kind of cornerstone in so many areas. Alchemy, philosophy, politics, art and much more, ancient Greece can in any case be described as one of the most important advanced civilisations. That’s true, compared to Greece, the USA is very very young and there too, much of the Greek milestones has flowed into culture. I think every country has its cultural highlights :) Happy that you like my post and wish you a great weekend!

The history of that place where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held must be incredible, and I imagine the price of €10 to visit, let's say, the cultural cradle of the world, is quite modest. For you, my friend, it was a great experience, and thank you for sharing it with all of us.

The stadium is historic, it's nice to know that the first Olympics were held here. Going here is like immersing yourself in history, a good place to visit.
