Nikola Tesla and Prague

in #worldmappin4 days ago

Hey dear community, at the beginning I would like to welcome you all to my new post and hope you have a positive start to the new week! In this article I would like to share something about a well-known personality and the connections to the city of Prague.

Many probably know the well-known inventor Nikola Tesla (1856 - 1943) who is considered one of the most important personalities when it comes to researching topics on the edge of science and during his life, he has applied for hundreds of patents. Rather unknown is that he lived in the Czech Republic in Prague for some time and one of his most famous monuments can be found here and during my vacation, I decided to visit this one which is located a few kilometres away from the old town and can rather be described as one of the most unknown sights which I could only find through some research. The work was created in 2014 from the material bronze and reminiscent of his experiments with electricity and with a few metres in size, it looks very authentic and perfectly expresses Tesla's passion for invisible forces. The two artists Stefan Milkov and Jiří Trojan are known as creators of the work and it was definitely not easy to create this work which weighs several tons and I was able to find out that the city of Zagreb supported the artists and provided some funds for the construction.

Presumably the artwork is even illuminated, but unfortunately I could not see this myself because I visited it during the day and why the artwork is exactly in Prague is because it was an important city for Tesla in which he spent some time and visited the university there and lived in the 13 Smeckach St. The idiosyncratic inventor lived there rather withdrawn and had problems with the language at the beginning and often he decided to look for a quiet retreat and chose the Clementinum libary in which he spent hours and hours to further his education. This work not only expresses the passion of the two artists towards Tesla, but is at the same time an important connection between Prague and the city of Zagreb and everyone who should visit the city and is interested in Tesla should not miss this monument and who wants to see the full splendour should visit it best at night.

Many thanks for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about this unique artwork! I captured these pictures with my Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.

That's for sure an interesting person, I wonder what is real and what is a tale about him, we should have more stuff on him on books

Good that you think about it more closely!
