Hi Shiners! Welcome back to my humble online abode. I’m sorry for not writing a blog, but I have been busy dealing with some personal matters. I am too overwhelmed by the support you have been showing in my last blogs. Even though I am a newbie, I feel so welcome and a part of this wonderful platform.
How are you guys doing? I hope you are all doing well. I know it’s been so hot these days now in the Philippines since the summer season has already started. My story for you today is related to it. It was an adventure for my family on one of the beaches here in the Philippines. It happened last year on my cousin’s birthday. Well, we consider it a family tradition to go to the beach every year to celebrate her birthday. Tomorrow (March 30), we are about to go on a beach trip again, and I’ll share our experiences about it in my next blog.
So, I guess I am ready to start now with my stories of adventure with my family. We went on a beach trip to Bucana Beach in Nasugbu, Batangas, Philippines. I went here with my family and relatives. It was a celebration of my cousin’s birthday as well as his dad’s birthday. We considered it to be a double celebration since my uncle’s birthday is on March 30 and my cousin’s birthday is on March 31. It was my cousin’s request to have her birthday every year on the beach, so we considered it as a family tradition.
The night before our trip, we were all busy preparing for the important things to bring and, of course, the food that we were going to eat. My family was big, so every member had something to do and share to have a successful beach trip. I didn’t sleep in our house that night since I still had my work, so we just slept in my boyfriend’s house. Just a short background, we have been legal on both sides about our relationship, and we are both adults, so we are capable and responsible in our actions. When I went home at 11 PM, my boyfriend and I started to prepare chicken wings and sizzling tofu, since my aunts requested these dishes be made by my boyfriend. It was too exhausting since we needed to prepare a lot of them, since we have to share them with my family members. Our call time is at 4 AM, since we rented jeepneys as our transportation, since we won’t fit in a car. We finished cooking at 2 AM, and then after that, I just prepared our things. We wanted to take a nap, but the time won’t be enough, so we decided to walk to our home. My boyfriend’s house is not far from our house. It only takes 10-15 minutes of walking.
When we arrived at home, all the family members were busy preparing the things that we needed to put inside the jeepney. We all helped each other to make sure we got everything that we needed. At exactly 3:30 AM, we decided to leave the house. Before finally leaving, a prayer was made to ask God for guidance and protection. The whole jeepney was filled with different stories and laughter as we proceeded on our ride. Of course, since my boyfriend and I didn’t get a chance to sleep, we decided to take naps in between. After almost two hours, we arrived at Nasugbu, Batangas, at 6 o’clock, and it was fascinating. It was almost sunrise, and I loved how the beach smelled.
My aunt asked me to help her find the resort coordinator so we can finally settle into our rented place. We even asked for karaoke since my uncles requested it. We finally unloaded all the things in our hut, and it was great since it comes with one big room and two comfort rooms. We placed all the food on the long table, and I put up some birthday decorations for my cousin. Everyone was very excited, and even my nieces had already changed into their swimwear and gone to the seaside.
We decided to have our breakfast first, so we shared the food and, of course, coffee for everyone. After that, we all decided to change into our swimwear. As part of my routine, sunscreen is a must, since it was too hot to be at the beach. We just roam around the beach and even take some pictures. After that, lunchtime came and so we shared again all the food prepared by each family member. Eating barbecue hits differently when you are on an outing with your family. We also sang the happy birthday song, so my cousin and uncle blew out their candles. After that, my uncles decided to start their jamming session, which was the drinking session. My boyfriend was, of course, invited into it.
Different stories and life updates were shared as we all talked together inside the hut, on the seaside, and even in the rooms. I just noticed that when you were at the beach, time flies slowly, and I felt excited about it, since it means we get to stay there longer, and so family time will also be longer. We were busy swimming and eating food or fruits in between.
Even though we all love to stay there, we can’t since it’s already 5 PM, so it means we need to go back home. The usual routine again came, we all helped load again the things we brought to the resort. Everyone was exhausted, so the jeep was filled with music and even the snoring of my uncles. We also took a stopover in Tagaytay, since my uncle bought beef, since he wanted to cook something with soup for the family.
After almost three hours, since there were multiple traffic jams, we all came home safely. We just decided to end our trip by sharing a good dinner. It was indeed an exhausting trip, but it was worth it since we got the chance to spend it together as a family.
I am excited to go again for another trip this Sunday, and just like what I mentioned earlier, I will be sharing about it soon with you, Shiners, in our next writing blog.
Thanks for reading my story, and I hope you will continue supporting my humble abode. See you in my next blog, Shiners ♡
