While politics stir and the taxman continues to steal my money, I decided to switch off and enjoy the beauty of Africa with my family. This is Johannesburg, rife with crime, bleak skyscrapers, and the bustle of making ends meet - but in this small park, a small piece of raw land that encapsulates the true essence and awe of our country - we find vigour and rehabilitation.
Here, we stumbled on a humble lake carpeted with floating pennywort and home to ducks, geese, and Weavers. We reveled in the lush green grass perfect for a friendly soccer match. My favorite - a mini library showcasing the fact that as Africans, we still have the ability to share and care. All of this blanketed under the majestic African sky.
The kids enjoyed the playground, unmarred by vagrants and litter, and the adults indulged in Woolworths treat that I tell you, are unmatched!
The grass may be greener on the other side (ahem, America), but we still have unrivaled beauty in our country, something to be proud of, making it hard to leave.
Wishing you a happy Sunday and an awesome week ahead!
