Donald Hager, better known as Jack Swagger has requested his release from WWE and considering his absence from television for a good while, I would suspect he is on his way out. The question becomes though: What does the future hold for Hager?
IMPACT Wrestling
A handful of WWE stars have gone to IMPACT and been able to reinvent themselves: The Wolves, Cody Rhodes, Aron Rex (the former Damien Sandow), Drew Galloway, and the like. Since WWE owns the name "Jack Swagger", I could see him becoming Jake Hager or a name to that effect. IMPACT is likely looking to rebuild their talent pool, as they have lost The Hardys, Drew Galloway, Jade, Mike Bennett, and Maria Kanellis-Bennett. It is unclear as to whether more talents are on their way out as well.
Bellator MMA
Hager has considered MMA. Since UFC is unlikely to sign anyone else from WWE as 1) Brock Lesnar has retired and 2) CM Punk's debut was abysmal at best and his future in the UFC is uncertain. Bellator has also been known to take chances, pitting Ken Shamrock against Kimbo Slice (may he Rest in Peace) and Chael Sonnen against Tito Ortiz in what was Ortiz's last MMA fight.
Great! Another 'pro-wrestler' who thinks he can fight. Bellator fans will eat him up.
I would much rather see him in IMPACT honestly.
